This is exactly why I have very little faith in you understanding what we’re yapping on about, and frankly I don’t blame you. You’ve played very few games on BBH altogether just as I have played very few SA games and don’t understand some of their stuff. I’ll do my very best to explain to the best I can, N3rd’s BBH guide if you will:
Boxhead Bounty Hunter:
Game aim? Collect bounty points (hence the name) and get on a list called a Wanted List which is top 100 list ranked on bps.
What’s a wanted list? Well, a wanted is someone who has accumulated a lot of bp in their lifetime, to get into top 100. Wanteds are also themselves are essential for ensuring the circulation of bp around the game as they drop more bp when then they die.
So why are Wanteds important? Well, Wanteds need to play frequently to drop more bp for non-wanteds to earn. This is the core mechanic of the game and it’s legs have been cut out due to one simple problem.
What happens if Wanteds become inactive? This becomes a huuuuge problem. Now the non-wanteds can’t earn that much bp.
What’s the problem if non-wanteds don’t earn bp? Well, that defeats the sole purpose of the game. These non-wanteds can no longer be bounty hunters and they will never get to even attempt to be wanted. So they have no chance and they quit.
So what if the non-wanteds quit, we still have Wanteds right? Yes and no. Yes because some of them did indeed stay and no because others just quit due to a variety of reasons not suitable for discussion here. Now you have to understand that while Wanteds are very important, having competitive, active, non-wanted players is essential for the game. There can only be 100 wanteds but there can be 1000s of non wanteds. We are getting to the point where almost everyone on this game has a wanted account.
So almost everyone has a Wanted account, its great isn’t it? Problem. The sole purpose of this game has been defeated. Wanteds were not meant to be a safe store of bps, they were always meant as temporary as a non-wanted would always compete for your position. During the early days if you didn’t play for a week you would no longer be a wanted, because a dedicated non-wanted was out there playing to get there. This is exactly what we’re proposing to happen, albeit a week was of natural causes.
So non-wanteds can’t get wanted, wanteds will always stay wanted? Yes and now the fundamental aspect of the game has been stripped off. The game is rendered useless for everyone. After more than 7 years of playing this I have seen this slowly happen, I’ve seen some people complain about it then eventually leave. More have came and even more have gone. I’ve played this game in its most enlightened era and have first hand witnessed the competitive, activeness and dedication of this community.
What happens if we ban/wipe inactives or completely reset? Well, the first 100 people to login will automatically be wanted. Now you can expect full wanted games where a LOT of bp will be dropped. Now these wanteds will feel the need to play longer not only because they enjoy it but because they fear someone else could take their position. Well they’re right, a non-wanted has a good chance of becoming wanted not only because of the low threshold but also because of the high number of bps being dropped.
Voila! The game is back on its own two feets and its core mechanic is now functioning again. It’s a win win for everyone. The community and XGen.
You’re wrongly thinking that many of them will comeback. In fact, majority of the wanteds probably don’t even know this game exists and have cut all ties to it. I estimate no more than 10 older players will come back. By older I mean players who haven’t touched this game for 6+ months.
Let’s say according to your thinking that many wanteds comeback. Which will never happen but lets consider your argument. For one, yes the wanted list will start to return to normal but no. What we have effectively done is gotten old players and made them active again. Now we again, have active wanteds and this is exactly what we want.
This game runs off the wanted list players being active (as explained in my excellent guide) and even according to your own argument, you are suggesting that old wanteds will come back and serve exactly that purpose for us! Which is to be active. It’s a win-win for everyone.
