The tournaments are NOT RIGGED. The following is the exact procedure I have taken for every tournament:
I put the list of players/teams into the bracket in any order. This is not the finalized seedings of the bracket.
Then, I hit “Shuffle Seeds” on Challonge EXACTLY ONCE and ONCE ONLY.
By this procedure, every single tournament has completely randomized seedings.
To your point about prevention of “good teams” meeting in early rounds for the sake of competitiveness, there are a couple of points I would make:
1.) There is no objective way of judging which teams are “good” and should be seeded first. Going off of previous tournaments would also have been unfair; the first 10 tournaments were isolated events, so it would be unfair to have previous tournaments influence the outcome of future tournaments.
2.) What we lose in competitiveness amongst the upper teams is gained by opportunity for the lesser teams in the early rounds to compete and advance.
However, now that we have seasons and we are collecting points for 1st-4th across a seasons’ tournaments, it would now be permissible to seed players based on the results of the previous tournament. Only the top 4 finishers from the previous tournament for singles or doubles accordingly would be protected; everyone else would be randomly seeded outside of the top 4. The procedure involved in doing this simple; all that has to be done is clicking “Shuffle Seeds” once, and then simply putting the players who finished in the top 4 to the top.
It is very frustrating for me to continually read these comments coming from you and others that are just simply untrue. You can believe whatever you want about my tournaments since I cannot stop you. However, you are 100% wrong in labeling my tournaments as rigged, and you are only doing an unfair disservice to my tournaments, and thereby a disservice to the community as a whole who would benefit from more people playing.
This is the last time I will indulge you in a discussion about whether these tournaments are rigged. The discussion about whether tournaments are rigged in this thread stops here.
