Default PtV Patches and Changelog

We appreciated everyone's keen attention to detail and assistance with tracking down the remaining bugs in Pillage the Village.

We are planning to release one or more patches for the game as soon as we are able to resolve some, or all, of the remaining issues.

Please read the instructions in the Bug Report Thread, the proper location to report issues. Feel free to post Known Issues here as well, but please including information on your specific setup and a screenshot to help us track down the bug.

PtV has been patched to version 1.0.1. Please clear your browser cache otherwise you may not see these changes.

Excerpt from change log for PtV build 1.0.1
  • Ultimate spell icons for pacifist and antagonist spells now use the hidden icons during gesture casting if they are not purchased
  • Credits no longer auto exit when the song ends, but must be exited by the user. This was removed because of users claiming to have the credits exit too early, likely due to slower animation playback.
  • How to play waits a few seconds longer before returning to the main menu.
  • Auto-pause from lost window focus is now disabled due to some reports of undesired pausing.
  • "Full screen" mode, ie access of the swf directly is no longer allowed.
  • Bug fixed: Cursor gets stuck in vertical movement mode when the swordsman cuts the finger while its hovering over another villager
  • To avoid confusion, cash spent on spells is now tallied and added to your current balance in the "Total Loot Plundered" field on the Game summary screen.
  • Accessing the game from http://xgenstudios.com is now redirected to http://www.xgenstudios.com to help alleviate some of the saved data issues users are experiencing.
  • Code was implemented to prevent trap doors from attempting to release villagers faster than the animation can play, often resulting in invisible spawns or 'unbusted' trap doors. Its unknown whether this was the main source of the 'trap door glitch', but it should help with some of these issues, hopefully resolving the glitch entirely.
  • The interval for the redundant level win/lose status check has been reduced from 5 seconds to 3 seconds.

  • Bug Fixed: Some Adblockers prevented the game from continuing after Round 10

PtV build 1.0.2
  • Changed ranking text ‘Downright Neighborly’ to ‘Neighborly’.
  • Shop text has been updated for greater clarity in regards to Positive and Negative alignment points required for the spell branches.
  • Freeze Time: An icon now displays in the lower left corner for this spell, allowing you to see the remaining time as well as prematurely end it by clicking the icon.
  • Freeze Time: This spell now works as a toggle in Sandbox mode instead of working on a timer as Campaign mode does. To end the spell, you must click the newly added icon in the lower left corner.
  • Bug Addressed: Finger does not bandage itself if the Knight cuts it off while you are spell casting.
  • Exceeding 10,000 alignment in either direction no longer results in an undefined rating on the game over page.
  • Heroes no longer attempt to save dead villagers.
  • When set to the “lowest” detail setting in the game options, The Flash player will render in low quality (no anti aliasing) instead of medium. Additionally, coins will not animate towards the top of the screen when collected.
  • Coin graphics have been slightly simplified to help reduce their impact on cpu usage.
  • Other miscellaneous adjustments.

PtV Build 1.0.3
  • Fixed a bug that left the graphics for the final Pacifist spell on screen if a level was lost and replayed while the spell was active.
  • Bug Fixed: Setting the rating to a level that hides skeletons doesn't hide them the next time you play, unless you open and close the options menu or change the settings.
  • Bug Fixed: Ambient sounds continue to play after the game is over.
  • Bug Fixed: Smoke doesn't animate in SandBox mode.
  • Cursor snapping now works on all applicable spells.
  • Saves can no longer be created that are higher than the maximum stage
  • The save and upgrade screens have been disabled after the final level, since they serve no purpose.
  • The aiming and collision mechanics of the final antagonist spell have been adjusted to increase the lethality of its initial cast.
  • Final pacifist and antagonist spell graphics have been optimized.
  • Final pacifist spell now rewards coins.
  • Collision detection on the final pacifist spell has been adjusted to substantially increase its effectiveness.
  • Fixed an issue that caused less coins to be rewarded when the game was set to a lower rating level in the options.
  • Due to player request, the save screen now appears after the shop screen, allowing you to save your spells immediately after purchasing them instead of waiting until the next level.
  • Fixed a graphical bug associated with the bleeding of wounded peasants.
  • To help alleviate performance issues for some users, environment animations (grass, windmills, etc) no longer animate on the “lowest” detail setting. Additionally, the skull and crossbone death icon will not appear over corpses on this setting.
  • Fixed a bug that caused corpses and skeletons to freeze if you paused while the corpse was decaying.
  • Fixed various glitches with the Thief that were caused by pausing and resuming the game.
  • Villager mouse interaction boxes slightly increased in size.
  • Other miscellaneous fixes and changes.
PtV Build 1.0.3.1 (appears as version 1.0.3)
  • Fixed a bug that prevented you from grabbing more than 1 villager during the freeze time spell.
