I never said they bought a championship. Honestly, it's the MLB's fault. They need to make a cap rule.

I disagree with cap rules. First of all, that would put the Mets at a disadvantage, I'm sure you would hate that as much as I would. Second, if a team wants to be good, it should find ways to make do with what they have.

For example, teams like the Pittsburgh Pirates will never be good with their ownerships. The owners of the Pirates have a revenue sharing ownership, and instead of spending money earned on players, they pocket it. No star player would last until his minimum major league contract (assuming he's from the farm) was up in Pittsburgh. It's just the way it is. Instead of having a salary cap, Bud Selig should approve of better owners, so people could stop getting away with this bull####.

Well yes I agree with you, but think of the fans of those teams. I agree, better owners are needed. But think about the fans of those teams, that haven't seen the playoffs in 5-10 years. It sucks honestly.

That's a lot of premier players that they have retained over the years (Pettitte left for 3 years but whatever).

They didn't "buy" a World Series. They purchased free agents by filling in gaps. Other teams do it too. Should the Red Sox be accused of "buying" championships in 2004 and 2007? They had absolutely no right to sign Ortiz, Matsuzaka, Ramirez, Mike Lowell, Josh Beckett and others, right? No, but it's never mentioned because everyone loves the Red Sox and hate the "Big Bad Yankees". If other teams don't like it, nothing's stopping them from "buying" playoff games. The Mets (a team you seem to like--as do I, by the way), have used their gigantic payroll (#2 overall) to get some key acquisitions. The only problems were excess injuries and the Mets ownership losing millions in the Bernard Madoff scandal. The Mets used their money, it didn't work out (which sometimes happens), and now certain Mets fans are getting pissed for no reason.

I don't mean to be generalizing you, though, or anyone else that might feel this way. I just don't want to hear the Yankees "purchasing" (illegal to do so now, I guess) a championship, when that's complete bull####. Okay, I'm done.
Agreed. They have more money than any other team and they spend it, get over it.
