Only One Computer Can't Connect to the Internet
For Networking Problems:
(IE: Hardware cannot connect to internet) Type of Hardware: Desktop Computer (no brand specified) All other hardware between problem machine and outside connection: HuaWei SmartAx MT880b DSL Box, TP-Link TL-WR641G+ Wireless Router, Stock Wireless Receiver Operating System: Windows XP Type of connection: 108mB/s Wireless-G Connection Details of Problem: So yesterday, neither of our computers (a desktop and a laptop) could connect to the Internet, and the desktop computer that is now not working at all kept complaining about what I believe was a IP conflict (it was in Chinese, I wasn't sure). Today, all my devices, including my iPod and our laptop/desktop, can connect to the Internet. However, our desktop computer (the one complaining of an IP conflict) says that it is connected, but it will not load any pages ("The server at 'x' cannot be found.") except for certain ones like Google, FileHippo, but even still those are snail slow. I can't even access my router. If I tell my computer to go to 192.168.1.1, it'll take FOREVER to load. Steps already taken to Diagnose/Remedy the problem: Turned off and reset the router, scanned my computer for viruses, checked to make sure the Firewall isn't the problem, none of them fixes it. Attach/link to NETWORK DIAGRAM This is EXTREMELY important. HuaWei Router Box > TP-Link Wireless Router > Computer, Laptop, iPod... Additional Information: All my devices could not connect to the router (yesterday) right after I updated my nVidia card drivers and installed the Chinese build of IE8, and restarted. May be just a coincidence. I can't ipconfig /renew or any of that stuff, because the computer or Internet (something Chinese) is blocking me from doing it.

I'm going to set my ip to 192.168.1.25 (I'll tell you how it goes).
Well, it seems to have fixed itself somewhat, but it's still slow. Should I go ahead and assign static ips to all my devices? EDIT: This is weird. When I set up the static ip, it doesn't work, but it fixes itself when I revert it to an automatic ip. EDIT: Here's something interesting. When I load one tab, it usually loads pretty fast. But if I'm making multiple requests at once, my internet suddenly gets real slow, and my computer is only receiving about one packet every few seconds.

You can leave your laptops on DHCP, that should be fine. Just run ipconfig on each of them to make sure they are properly aquiring IP's.
It sounds like you might be having a DNS issue. Maybe try using OpenDNS. Another possibility is that your ethernet device is fried.

Whoops, heehee. I went ahead and jumped the gun by setting up static ips anyway.
I already tried OpenDNS. Didn't help. My ethernet device is fried? Would that affect all devices using it or just this one? Also, whenever I load a site, all the text loads but none of the pictures, so I have to turn off my wireless receiver, then IE will display the half-loaded site. |

Right, every computer except my desktop works fine.
It seems that I have no problem uploading stuff (posting on the forums, sending out packets), but my computer is having trouble receiving Internets (seeing that post, the forums, etc.). EDIT: What I mean is, it's REALLY slow, but if you wait for an hour or so a web page will load. Is it possible that I have some corrupt registry or winsock entries that are making my internet so slow?

Every computer is on a wireless network, yes.
How would I go about changing my desktop's wireless. ... You mean to a wired connection? My grandparents don't have long enough cables. I was thinking about reset my WinSock entries to see if that would olve the issue. Anything I should know before I begin? |

See, this is why I ask people to post a network diagram. I assume that all desktop computers are wired, since otherwise your router is in the wrong place (it should be near at least one of your computers)
