It's always bugged me as to why the Titanic is so special. A million other ships must have crashed, maybe a few in a similiar fashion, but what makes the Titanic soooo important that they have to make loads of films and junk on it? I mean, I understand if they want to repair it, but it just bugs me that they don't go to any lengths to repair those other ships that crashed... Aren't they as special?

Just because they're British or unlucky, doesn't mean it deserves special attention.

There are so many more sunken ships out there. Some with ancient money (IE doubloons), some with weapons (bullets and rockets and shells), and there's passenger ones, which ppl wanna reconstruct just for the memory. I would go with the first 2 because of more practicality. Chances are, most of those ships are damaged beyond repair (Not to mention fish probably have made it a home too). We might as well just loot the place.

Getting back on topic, I think it would be of some historic value to restore it and put it on display somewhere.

The thing with all those other ships, WW1, WW2, and the rest is that they were tools of war. The Titanic was significant because it was the largest, non-combative vessle. While they would both bring memories of death, the Battleship and subs and all those would bring back memories of chaos and destruction, while the titanic will simply bring memories of sorrow and tragedy.

So all in all, if they bring back the titanic, bring back an old Aircraft carier or something. What do you plan on losing more of? Airforce jets, or commercial 747s?

I don't think anyone understands the significance of this boat. It was supposed to be the best boat industry could offer, completely indestructable. This boat was supposed to be a scion of a new age, the harbinger of the invincibility of man.

This boat was supposed to be immortal.

And it sunk on it's very first voyage.

It showed the world that man is not invincible, that bigger does not mean better, and that nothing is indestructable. We can not build a better society, we must live for a better society.

Leave the ship alone. Those people suffered there and its the only memorial they will have. Someday each of us will be remembered for what we are hopefully...not how we died, as they are.
