WARNINGS AND BANS
We are going back to the warning and infraction points system: five points and you're gone. We are also introducing a new appeals system. This is what the moderators will be looking for.
Warning (Yellow Card): Miss post or a misdirection usually from a new user. When this happens, the user will be issued a private message with a verbal warning explaining what they did wrong, accompanied by a yellow card on their file. There is no immediate repercussion for this type of warning.
Infraction (Red Card): A blatant disregard of the rules (e.g. flaming, spamming, swearing, etc.). This results in the user getting issued points and a red card on their file. One infraction is equal to one point.
The total number of points your account accumulates carry the following penalties:
1 Point: No penalty.
2 Points: Three-day ban.
3 Points: Week-long ban.
4 Points: Month-long ban.
5 Points: Permanent-ban. If you wish to come back, you must make an appeal. See below for details.The new appeals system works as thus: If you feel you have been unjustly permanent-banned, email a moderator/admin (list of emails below). In your email, you should explain, in your own words, what you did, why you think you should be let back, and how you will keep from getting banned again. The moderator/admin will then post your request in the Moderator's Lounge, and it will be reviewed. If accepted, you will be let back on probation for a month. If you break the rules within the probation period, you're gone: no more appeals. If you follow the rules during the probation period, you will be let back with 3 points.

Posts clearly insulting other board members, directly or indirectly, are not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to:
Name-calling ("You\'re an idiot", "You moron")
Direct insults ("Screw you")
Offensive orders ("Go kill yourself")
Insinuations ("Are you stupid or something?") or insults towards family ("Your mom...")
Hit listsIn addition, do NOT flame "newbs." Treat them the way you\'d want to be treated.
TROLLING (INCITING FLAMES)
Posts intended solely to annoy or offend other posters by going against the clear nature of a board or topic is not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to:
Provoking other users to respond with flames
Making misleading topic titles
Asking obviously useless questions
Posting false information as fact
"Spoof" Threads
Any member found flaming and/or trolling the forums will be subject to a week-ban. These will not incur a warning. Any member who does not desist in flaming may be subject to one or more warnings. If a user on probation is found trolling and/or flaming, he or she will be permanently-banned.
SPAMMING
Posts that clearly advertise a service or product are not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to:
Repeated web site advertisements
Scams, chain letters, and pyramid schemes
Posting links to games like "OUTWAR".
Posting one or few worded posts
Posting multiple messages in succession. There is an edit button for a reason: USE it!
Off-topic posting
A post that contains no real words (exclusively random symbols, emoticons, etc)
A post simply telling someone that their post is spam (it is spam itself)DISRUPTIVE POSTING
Posts that disrupt the message boards for other users are prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to:
Posts with large spacing
"Bumping" older topics (posting in them well after the last post)
Posting multiple, identical, or near-identical messages or topics, including "fad" topics
Intentionally hard-to-read topic titles (i.e. ALL CAPS, ToGgLeD cApS, no spaces, no or excessive punctuation, 1337 speak, etc.)
Posting multiple, hard-to-read messages in a single (or multiple) topics
Posting absolutely uselesslyCURSING
Curse words are NOT allowed here. This includes images containing curse words. Using curse words results in a warning. We do warn for saying a curse word with merely one letter present: use something to completely censor the word. We have little eyes here; I have seen a 7 year old here before. One may think, "They have heard all of these curse words before," but we don’t want to make it a habit of them seeing them.
Also, swearing in code is not allowed (e.g. spelling out words making each letter the first letter of a word).
SOUND IN POSTS/SIGNATURE
We know that you can easily turn down your sound, but when oneself is trying to read multiple posts in a topic and one has music looping over and over, it is very annoying. So, to prevent this, no more music will be allowed to play involuntarily in a post or sig. If you want to play some type of noise/song then create a link or a button that you must press to play it. If you break this rule you will be warned. If you break it again, appropriate actions will be taken.
IMPERSONATION
Users will be immediately banned (along with any associated accounts) for impersonating other boards users by creating and/or using a message board account with a name clearly intended to impersonate, mock, or antagonize another user, or otherwise falsely claim to be another message board member. Anyone found using the avatar and/or signature of a moderator/administrator after being given a light reminder via PM will be given a warning. His/her avatar/signature will be automatically removed as well.
Spammer Land is unique. Anything reasonable, inoffensive, and not directly harmful to others can be posted in Spammer Land.
REPORTING POSTS
While we moderators do as much as we can to keep the forums running smoothly, we can't catch everything. If you find a post that breaks the rules, please report it. Reporting posts using the 'report bad post' button (the icon found at the bottom-left of every post box) helps the moderators handle inappropriate posts. Much easier than using the 'report bad post' button is to instant-message a moderator via AIM or other instant-messaging client that they can be reached at.
Most moderators' screen names (and email address) can be found in their profiles. You can also click the "View forum leaders" button at the bottom of the forums or go to this post (http://forums.xgenstudios.com/showthread.php?t=24474) to view a list of the current moderators and administrators.
SHOUTBOX RULES
To clear up confusion, the following rules apply to the shoutbox:
DO NOT swear/curse in the shoutbox
DO NOT flame/incite flaming
DO NOT post pictures that may be deemed offensive to other users
DO NOT spam the shoutbox
Multiple posting is acceptable as long as it's reasonable, but posting more than 2 or 3 times in a row will be considered spam.
Remember: the same five-warning system applies to the shoutbox. Five warnings and you are banned (permanently).
Please use good judgment and treat the shoutbox like any other part of the boards.
If you wish to report a shoutbox post to the moderator team, please private message any of the moderators and we will respond ASAP.
MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS
Recently, an increasing number of members have been creating additional accounts. If you have read and fully understand the rules, you know that creating accounts in addition to your own is against the rules, and will result in an instant-ban.
If you are going to make an additional account, you must first receive approval from a moderator or an administrator. To receive this approval, simply send the noted official a private message containing the following information:
Reason why the additional account is wanted
Who will use this account
What the account's name will beIn providing this information (and after being approved), a moderator can ensure that you are not simply creating this account for reasons such as gaining post counts or Xcash.
NOTE: If you have a sibling who wishes to create an account on these forums, you must still receive approval. Otherwise, the moderators may come across this additional account and ban them "for no apparent reason" as the multiple has not been approved.
In the case that you have a multiple account (i.e. a sibling posts on XGen as well, but we do not know of the duplication), please submit a PM containing the information required for approval. This ensures that you will not be banned if you appear to be multi-accounting (same IP, same photo-albums for sig hosting, etcetera).
If you have any inquiries regarding this, please feel free to post them.
SIGNATURE RULES
Images: One 600x150 pixel image OR any combination of images such that the width does not exceed 600 pixels and the height does not exceed 150 pixels
text: 1 or 2 lines of normal sized text in addition to images. If no images are used, 5-6 lines of normal sized text (or 1-2 lines of larger text) are acceptable.
If you use a Flash signature, these rules still apply to you. Make sure your Flash is still under 600 x 150.
Additionally, flash signatures which are used with the intent of causing lag to other people's computers are not allowed; whether they be auto-playing, or require a button to be clicked.
THESE LIMITS ARE NON-NEGOTIABLE AND ARE STRICTLY ENFORCED
SPAM PLOTS
Any member using our forum to plot the spamming of another forum will receive a week-ban.
Also, any member proved to have spammed a forum that is affiliated with XGen Studios will receive a ban.
POSTING IN ADBOT THREADS
We have had a recent surge of ad/spambots attacking our forum, hawking everything from vacuum cleaners to porn. We are working on the problem.
In the meantime, please stop making our jobs harder by posting in the thread. If you see an adbot thread, report the thread and move on. Nothing is accomplished by posting in the thread. It is a bot. It will not read your witty reply, nor respond to your insults. Do you yell at trees for being too leafy? Warnings will be issued for breaking this rule.
PIRATED SOFTWARE
Anyone who is found posting links to illegal software or providing sites, keys, warez, cracks, keygens downloads, etc. will receive a 1 week ban. General discussion on where to obtain such is still allowed, so long as no specific details are provided.
