Well, if anybody is wondering wich is best, then I will help by telling all about the systems.
Graphics- This one is very easy to see. The PSP uses UMDs (Universal media discs) and the DS uses little memory stick looking things. The UMDs can pack so much into gaming it's unbelivable. Some games look like almost ps2 graphics, while the DS's mini sticks cannot pack nearly as much data in them. PSP wins in graphics. This is Ridge racers DS's graphics- http://media.ds.ign.com/media/704/704841/imgs_1.html While this is Ridge racer PSP graphics- http://media.psp.ign.com/media/682/682967/imgs_1.html.
Portablity- The DS is more suited for on the go gamers, because it is one tough machine. This thing is big and bulky and won't scratch easily. It has a fold down cover witch pretects the screen. The PSP, on the other hand, doesn't have a big cover to go over the screen, and the screen is very large. And with a screen as large as the PSP it smuges easily as well.
Game Play- I really think it's a tie here. The psp has the Directinal pad and an analog stick. The PSP's games so far work well with the games it has and any playstation owner will feel right at home with it. But the DS's games are very fun to play with the touch screen. It also has a D-pad.
Hardwere- The psp wins right here. The UMDs can play movies, games, and music on them. The psp is a one stop shop for all your entertainment perpuses. It also has the abilty to get online via hotspots ( like you would find in a star bucks or some place like that) or a home router. But be aware that the online play for PSP isn't working flawlessly yet. It also has AD-HOC mode, wich lets you play with someone within 75 feet of you ( I think). And the DS lets you play games, and has a wireless chat room built in.
That is all for now. I must warn you though, I am a little biest to the PSP, so tell me if I missed anything about it :D

First of all i made this thread a while back. 2nd of all I got the psp and it is awesome. The only bad thing is the dead pixels but you are allowed to return them. Another downside is battery life is a little low especially if you are watching a movie. Although there is still no comparison between the psp and ds that would be like comparing the ps2 to the gamecube

When will they make the X-box portable... I wonder.
I wish and I wonder, for that matter.
Anyways, between the two the PSP wins without a doubt. They need to make a screen cover, though...

That's opinion based. I actually like the Gamecube better and I'm sure others who are a fan of Nintendo games can agree with me. The PS2 has much too many games for it that aren't needed, and in my eyes, it ruins it reputation and makes it look unprofessional. I think professionalism is important when it comes to consoles, and Gamecube wins there because the XBox has too many problems with disc reading. This problem also applies to the PS2.
Of course, Dreamcast is ranked up there too due to the games. Sometimes the best graphics shouldn't matter. Nintendo doesn't take an approach to make games look sharp, but rather, make them look colourful and cartoonish (which is why Mario does some pwnage).

I would say that I love both of the consoles, because DS is used for creativity and an instant cure for boredom, and I don't have a PSP (they don't make their second shipment until May :?) but I saw a kid in my school with one, and by the looks of it's awesome, mostly because you can download videos off of the net into your PSP :D, and the videos look great and all of the Media things packed into the PSP, so I can get the best of both worlds. Creativity and fun for the DS, and the ultimate media device for the PSP :D.

psp has the bigger screen, and one screen, so less confusing, but ds has some better games. VERY confusing, with 2 screens though.....

I have a DS and it is very fun to play but they need to make some good games for it. Mario Party on DS with wireless play would be so awesome...

DS definitely. PSP has an lcd screen with no cover. It will get scratched so easily. PSP also has crap battery life. PSP has unoriginal games, the basically took ps2 games and put them on the psp. DS made original games specifically for the DS and they took games from gamcube. It's a win-win. Only advantages for the psp are screen size, but DS has two screen which makes up for it. And the PSP plays movies, music and other stuff.

I buy systems for the games. When the DS and PSP come out with a decent game selection for each, I will be able to decide.
My decision will most likely be, "I like them both for the games that I like that are specific to each system"

I found that quite funny (even though I own a DS) =P

Personally, I think they're both great, I don't have a PSP, but I've heard some great things. I own a DS, on the other hand, and I like it a lot, the only complaint I have is that there are no good games. The only good one is a port of an old 64 game (Super Mario 64 for all you n00bs). The REAL games are coming out in, like, half a f***ing year, and all of the games that are going to be released prior to that are horrible (they have been so far, at least).
Although the PSP DOES have DVD capabilities, it's illogical to get DVDs for your PSP, in my opinion. When you buy a DVD for the PSP, it's the same price as a regular DVD, but it's JUST the movie, there are no extra features (yet). You can buy a portable DVD player with a MUCH bigger screen that has a better battery life. True, it costs about $100 more, but at least the DVDs you get for that are usable with other DVD players and not just that portable DVD player.
I like BOTH systems, but I HATE fanboys, even if they're pro-DS and anti-PSP. IT DOESN'T MATTER, neither Sony or Nintendo are paying you for arguing with people so that they'll buy it. If they are, that's another thing, but chances are they aren't.
PS, I forget the name of the guy who created this topic, but PLEASE use a spellchecker, c'mon, you misspelled practically every word that was 3 syllables and longer.

Mr Driller, Warioware and The Metroid demo (with four people playing). Those are good too.

PSP. Nintendo seems to be lacking in the game area (in my opinion).
DS has WarioWare: Touched, Yoshi Touch and Go, and SM64.
It also has sub-par controls and graphics.
PSP has Lumines and great graphics, plus the ability to play music and videos.
Only problem is the memory stick. Unless you upgrade the memory stick for a bajillion dollars, you are pretty much screwed.

That's my favorite game of all time, so that's not a terrible thing. :)
WarioWare Touched is quite awesome too.
I'm not a big fan of racing games, so the PSP doesn't do much for me just yet.

thats a very poor review.
there are so many more aspects to each of the two handhelds that were overlooked.
The music and movie aspests of the PSP,
The download and play aspect of the DS,
Battery life of each handheld,
Sound(!) how the hell do u forget that,
and so many more things that should have been in the review.
Let me just enough data. I'll make a review on these.

DS clearly wins in battery life. They both have the same speakers. Why would anyone want to watch a movie on like a 5 inch screen, and I can listen to music on my discman. Download and play would be awesome, but I don't believe that is in effect yet because the wireless DS network isn't up yet, is it?
DS download play is not a network, what it is is a way for a couple people to play off of one game cartrige.
Leperkawn

No, The DS has wifi built in. It's just that no application has been made yet (It's in the process or nearly done) that can act as a data transfer program at wifi hotspots. So, yes, you will be able to connect to the internet and do other things. Similar to a laptop (The connection, that is)

DS Features -> Connect
...Nintendo DS technology has also provided for a wireless LAN connection, which could allow theoretically an infinite number of players to connect at a hot spot and compete at a central game hub on the internet, even though they're thousands of miles apart...

Which links me to this (http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/08/31/news_6106106.html), which is totally awesome. Phone calls are one thing, but if it has VoIP, games can use it too. That'd be cool.

To be honest, what the DS lacks in the game department now. The PSP soon will. Sony screwed themselves out of a lasting liftime for the system by not thinking about games after the launch of the system.
The DS, however, actually delayed some of its original launch titles to further develop them, one of which would be Rayman DS, which I just got recently. Despite gamespot's review of the game, the game is about par with super mario 64 ds.
Plus there's more to come.
Did you know that as of now, there are more PSP's than total game disk for the psp? wow, bad planning...
Anyways, i stand corrected.

Stil working after like 10 years(I think), wow!! That's a new record for something made by sony. My parents bought an original nintendo the year it came out which was like 85, and it still works fine. I often play duckhunt and mario 1 and 3. Nintendo pwns Sony. It would be awesome if Xbox made a xbox mini. Geez, I hate Sony lovers almost as much as I hate religious conservatives. :P Also, Mack10, easy on the frikin emoticons.
