Nice--I like it! Very simple but compelling gameplay. The "popping bubble wrap" sound to get when you destroy an orb is extremely satisfying.
The only thing is, my wrist starts to hurt pretty fast playing this with a mouse. Now if I could play this with a wii remote, on the other hand...well, that'd be another story! Might I suggest submitting this to wiicade.com (http://www.wiicade.com/Home.aspx)? :)
It's very well done but I found it boring...

very nice!
i really liked the backrounds
the play was quite repetetive, so i quite instead of dying
could you show how they didn't spawn one on the other?
***gives 5*** (lvl 9 ^_^)

If they did spawn on each other the game would end rather quickly.
Since if any of them touch each other you lose.

For the spawning I basically had a function that would get the distance between a random point and all the orbs currently active. If the random point was far enough away that it could spawn without colliding with another, I'd use it... if not I'd get another random point and try again. The function also has a spacing factor -- so it would leave some room for the orb to grow and give you time to react.
I could easily make the game much harder by adding more colors and more orbs. I limited to 10. I tried it with 15 and it was far more challenging. It might have been better to go that route as it's be a shorter gaming experience per game.

You could also add different levels of difficulty. With more orbs for example to make the game more challenging.
Just a thought. Of course with the harder difficulty levels you should get more points.

The first thing I am adding is ability to pause/unpause with a mouse click.
I am thinking I might add some special powerups as an incentive to get say 5 of a color in a row. A powerup might slow down the spawn rate or the rate they expand for a few seconds. Or maybe one that smallifies every orb on the screen.
I know I can make it really hard by just adding more balls. I was going to go with more colors too, but it made it far harder to get multipliers which I wanted to be a focus in the game.
I think I might have made the value of each ball increase too much per level. It increases enough that you don't have to focus on multipliers to score high. So I was thinking of even giving a 5k bonus or something for each 5x multiplier you hit and 50k for a 10x
Anyone have a wii that would like to try it out with ?

If you let one of them grow it'll give you a game over when none of them touchs any of the others.

Yeah, I am aware of that one. I fixed it in the code already. It was basically trying to find a spot to put a respawn, but at some point there is no possible spawn point. I originally had it end the game so that it didn't go into a endless loop, forgot to handle that case. -- Now I limit the amount of attempts it'll take at finding a point and if it doesn't find one... It resets the timer and continues on to the next frame.
That was awesome! ... i gave up at 3,000,000 points, but that's only because my wrist was really sore ... Very well done! ... w00-h00 for me, 2nd place in the highscores ... :D

I would try it out on the wii for you, but Newsgrounds on the Wii is a *****, it closes the game after 2 or so minutes
