I tried posting about this in the Art forum, and you could practically hear the crickets. I'm thinking I'll have better luck here. ;)
Basically, I've been programming a simple RPG engine, and I want folks to submit their animated monsters for inclusion in the game.
- The cooler your monster is, the more prominently it will be featured.
- The best submissions will get their creators a co-author credit on Newgrounds and a cut of any potential sponsorship (though of course, everyone who submits will receive credit for doing so).

Sounds cool, however I'm not singing up for your forums just for this.
Otherwise I might make a contribution.
Are there any perks if we're not a NG user?

Yup--if you produce really good stuff and end up being one of the top animators for the project, you'll be entitled to a cut of any sponsorship money I get for the game. Not a bad deal, even if you do have to register on my forums. :p

Thanks for the offer, but I've decided to avoid the "world scrolling around you" approach this time. Now, on the other hand, if you feel like animating a monster or two for the game, well, I'd be honored. ;)

I dont get it. is the world tile based? I mean if the world is going to be bigger than 550 x 400 then your going to want to remove things not on screen.
As far as animating monsters, I would, but I think your going the vector route, yes? I do 3d rpg worlds, not a big fan of the vector.
Alot of benefits by the way of creating everything in a 3d format.
You can create your entire world in the 3d format, then using a camera pan generate your tiles, but the collest thing is that you can get different angles extremely easy, like say you go in a building, you can do something like swing the camera down into the door, and through it then back up to top view, make for very cool transitions.
Same for when talking to npc's you can swing the camera down to show them in a first person view. Lots of possiblilties.
Not to mention the ease of adding new moves to your player character, and enemies.

I believe it, but I'm not terribly good at 3D graphics. In fact, it's safe to say that I'm flat-out bad. I'd end up making a game that looks like Katamari or something. (Probably worse, actually.) And anyway, it wouldn't be very collab-friendly. ;)

I would but i suck at drawing.
once you release it i could advertise it for you.

Thanks, man. :) Meanwhile, the game engine has been updated (http://www.freepowerboards.com/sinisterdesign/sinisterdesign-about20.html). Want to contribute? Now's the time!

Sure you can avoid it for now.
But keep in mind that your just wasting cpu time moving around things that the players cant even see.

I'm not. I'm planning to lay out the game world a bit more like Sinjid this time around, in that the player moves from screen to screen rather than there being one huge scene that moves around him. Consequently, there won't be anything moving around off-screen at all.
