He was a racist, homophobic, right wing christofacist. We should celebrate his death!

While I understand that you really disagreed with him, you're being completely irreverent about a man's death.

Well I don't support his views, I won't celebrate his death.

And in reality what does celebrating his death do other than piss people off who supported him?

Celebrating death is sick, in the bad way.

On another note, welcome back Jshall. Irrelevance has lacked more than 2 intelligent people for quite some time.

A cultural curiousity, at the most. Death is considered by quite a few cultures to be just another step along the way. Even christians should technically celebrate the death or a good person, as death is the beginning of their eternal existence in heaven. Mourning over someone implies that the person will go to somewhere worse than earth, now wouldn't it :-)

In any case, I will also refuse to revere or respect a person whose views I consider barbaric, discriminating and plain wrong. But considering I've never heard of this man's name before, there's not much of an opinion I can have.

They're celebrating the fact that he's gone, not that he's gone to heaven (if he has, I can't say). There's a difference in the intent. ;)

Would you have brought the same argument if it was Hitler we're talking about? Bad people do not deserve to be respected. And someone who hates and discriminates others for no reason other than "they're different, teh bibel sez they Iz bad!!!" is a bad person.

The loss of life is never a cause for celebration is my book.

You can celebrate his passing into Heaven if you happen to like him. You can celebrate the metaphorical death of his ideas if you don't. But you'll never see me cheering over death.

Well, you can't really celebrate the death of his ideas, unfortunately--there are still way too many bigots out there who would love to see America turned into a theocracy. But if nothing else, I can take comfort in the fact that he won't be around to spread his poisonous ideology anymore.

I hear he used to felch his local priest with eight or nine crucifixes lodged up his pooper.

One can only hope he died a slow and painful death.
But that's hoping for too much I suppose.

Hey whats up glad to be back. I've been lurking for some time now and decided to get involved. I don't really recognize your user name though.... It seems a lot of people have changed them.

Well, if you think about it, his death was terrible because now he won't be around to witness homosexual people gaining their right (I just wanted to see his his goofy looking face when angered severely). Oh well, expecting too much I suppose >.>
