Classic rock is not a genre.I fail to see why.
It encompasses the large amount of music from the '60s-'80s.
Do you have some other name for it?

Progressive rock, metal, ambient, alternative, and other stuff that's kind of out any genres. To tell you the truth I didn't really like putting a label on music, it makes people think it has to be like one thing.

Wut Is The Matter With U Ppl Rap Is The Music To Listen To Not Heavy Metal!!!!!!!!!!!First off, http://maddox.xmission.net/keyboard4.jpg
Second off, learn how to spell.
Third off, voice your opinions in less idiotic ways.
For example, instead of "WUT IS THE MATTER WITH U PPL RAP IS THE MUSIC TO LISTEN TO NOT HEAVY METAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!", try something like "I prefer listening to rap over heavy metal because of [reasonable reasons]."
EDIT: Happy Chronic?

Alright, first of all, why did you delete my post?! Who did I insult?! I simply said that he/she should research more deeply into the genre matter, since not even .01% of all the genres were put into that poll! And also because not even I know all the genres, or I would be ruling the **** out of the music industry by now....

Aha, mistake! To users such as those, you need to put [reasonable reasons] or they could simply state reasons to be things such as:
a) COS T R0%0R5 Y0UR B0%0R05!!!!
b) C05 R4PZ0R5 15 |_337|\|35555555!!!11!!1shift+une!!

Do you have some other name for it?
1. If classic rock is 60's-80's then what does rock in the 50's count as?
2. Classic Rock isn't a genre. It is a time period in the history of rock and roll. In that time period, there were multiple, dignified genres of rock. Do you realize what you are doing by calling the entire decade of rock from the 60's to 80's (When it was most popular) one genre? You are putting together:
ACDC and The Beatles
Led Zeppelin and Bill Haley and his Comets
Johnny Cash and Jimi Hendrix
Kiss and Stix
To say all of these musics are the same style is dumb. So there.

I just call the rock of that era Classic Rock.
I don't call them all the same style.
I'll say classic rock, then throw out some band names.
Bands from that era are probably more easily recognized as classic rock than as their specific genre.

No.
Obviously when someone says "Classic Rock" you think of the greats. You think "Beatles, Zeppelin, Queen, Hendrix, Jesus". When you say "Classic Rock" you don't think, for instance, Santana. But the second anyone says latin rock, I can't help but having Oye Como Va being played in my head.
Bands from "that era" had tons of diversity in them, as do bands of "this era". You can not possibly think of every single important band, and every single widely-recognized subgenre that came out of "that era" when somebody says "Classic Rock", and you certainly can't just rattle off ten or 15 names, and think you have covered everything "that era" has to offer.

No, not really. I listen to R&B aswell, although it's not obvious, since a couple of threads I started concerning "XGeners" to stop harrassing Hip Hop, Rap, R&B, etc. for a number of reasons (of which I shall not list, since I have gone through the ardous job of carefully going over all of them in that one thread I will revive in a few moments).
Many people enjoy R&B in XGen, even the ones who constantly blabber about such genre being the "most mainstream ever, and the utter musical poop-hole", although they harrass it so they can "fit in with the crowd".
