Yep.
But seriously, just because you have the world's largest corperations doesn't make the majority smart, it makes ~0.001% either smart or very lucky.
The majority are just stuck getting screwed by the smart and/or lucky ones.

Britain's population is about 1/8 of America, and we're the 5th richest country in the world. It has nothing to do with the intelligence of your nation. I recently watched an economic study about how Britain is so rich (and has some of the largest corporations too) and it was nothing to do with the brains of our people.
Surprise! The internet was invented at CERN.

The common person in America could say all of the right answers in a heart beat. Let us go and interview people from Britain about American cities and states, people in the government, and other issues. This is a load of bull####.
They went to one single place and asked questions to random people. How many people had the right answers? Probably a lot. But would they show that? No. The thing that pissed me off the most was the triangle question. The people were obviously joking around but the video was cut immediately after they said the wrong answer. Come on... TRIangle?

Meh, the overal American mentality is that they are better than everyone else. Canadians and other countries are hostile and pretty fed up of that attitude Americans have.
One time a teacher asked us to raise out hands if we hated Americans. I didn't raise my hand (mostly because I was dating one at the time), and I think three others didn't raise their hand. Everyone else in the class did. One girl, who is a complete doll and very smart, the kind of girl everyone loves, turned around to everyone and said "I am an American." Everyone shut up pretty fast.

Hilarious depiction of stupid people. Are ALL Americans like that? Not really, but there are a lot of them. I mean A LOT.
Dom, you need to take a ####ing chill pill. I have never been able to fathom why people are so proud of their country, that they actually become angry. This new extreme sport called "patriotism" is a load of hooey.
"Har-har-har. America is awesome. All you foreign people are so stupid! With all your ching-chang-chongs, durka-durkas, and par-le'-vous. We caaan't understaaand you! Speak english!"
It's a country. I'll give you that. Celebrate your ancestors who broke away from Britain to form a new country? I'll give you that too. Think your better than every other country? Go #### yourself. America is a primary source for so many problems, you could easily call it "terrorism".
I'm moving to Canada.
EDIT: Dom, all southerners are not stupid.
Dom has said a lot of the things I'm thinking, so I'll just add a few things he didn't say.
I've heard a lot of people reasoning that Americans can't name all the states and their capitols, therefore we are stupid. Nevermind that we have 50 states, most of which are larger than European countries. And that our entire country is only 230,000 sq. kilometers from being bigger than their entire frigging continent. So unless you want to prove to me that you can name all the countries of Europe and their capitols from memory, stop talking.
Also, yes, we have a lot of stupid people. Guess what? So does every country. The difference is, our country has more land mass, thus more people. With more people, comes a larger amount of stupid people. The ratio is the same, we just have a higher population.'
Yes, we have a lot of fat people. Yes, that's a problem. Probably news to you: from what I've seen, no one really seems to care. This is the lifestyle we've chosen, because we have the means to live it.
Lastly, I don't care what anyone says. I wouldn't trade living in America for anything in the world. We're better than you. We know that we're better than you. You #### your pants daily because you also know that we're better than you. Tough ####, move along.

Completely agree. People are individuals. From my experience, most people are dumb. Anywhere. I know a few smart people, and associate with them. I don't associate myself with my country at all. I don't defend the intelligence of anyone who I don't know, and when you start saying millions of people at a time are stupid, you start breaking that. When you start saying they aren't, same problem. When you start saying anyone who does something is stupid without knowing their reasoning is dumb, you're just as bad. Countries aren't dumb, individuals are.
Anyone who says that a place as a country (even if they say exceptions of some sort) needs to consider that they're saying really stupid things.

A little late, but rather than having the CSA flag represent slavery and seperation from the union, it has evovled into a much more diverse- and tolerable- symbol. Most people who get freaked out over it fail to see the fact that symbols change- the corss used to be a symbol of terror and brutality, but now it is a symbol of hope and love. The pentacle was a symbol of nature and feminimity, but now is a symbol of the devil.
The CSA flag cannot be pinned down so easily, though. For one, it is a symbol of regional pride- "I love the south and I am damned not afraid to show it." Nowehre else in America is there pride for your region. I would not say "I love the Midwest," because I am indifferent. There is a sense of pride down their not just for their city and state, but the whole region. This does date back to the antebellum south, when they were the 'Aristocrats' of the Union. They had high standards and high morals, which could only perpetuate under slavery. The flag shows these past values.
While some see a warped image of the flag, seeing it as saying 'Enslave blacks,' it really is not. It is just unfortunate that the Klan has adopted it as their emblem. Of course, they have also adopted the cross. :p

Many people do hate Americans, but any intelligent foreigner will be able to recognize that a nation as a whole cannot be stupid -- only people within the nation.
However, it is true that Americans are self-centered. And why wouldn't we be? We're considered a huge cultural center, one of biggest economies in the world, and the most powerful military. That's why we're so self-absorbed, and many other countries absolutely loathe that. We're ignorant, because we have no reason not to be.
I can make many stereotypes. For example, I can claim all the Frenchies are cowards. I can call all Canadians hippies. I can say all Mexican families have 14 children. But that's not the truth. Far from it. People are people. No different from you except in language and customs.
Personally, I don't understand how people can automatically judge someone from a certain area. That has never been my understanding. My understanding is that The exception is the rule. Since I have seen most possible forms of exceptions in all races, cultures, and otherwise, I can safely say there is no reason to judge ANYBODY no matter where they come from. You should decide what you think about them based on what they say and do, not their origin.

One reason why so many people dislike America is because we are constantly making actions for our own benefit that, unfortunately, affect other countries aside from us. The American administration doesn't seem to realize that we aren't the only country in the world.
Basically, we are constantly funding terrorists and other groups to fight different groups for us (usually for financial reasons). Then this makes these funded groups (who are often extremists) stronger and a threat to other parts of the world (which makes other countries angry). Then we cast them off and stop funding them when they've done our dirty work for us, or start screwing with them or their allies in a similar manner (which makes them angry).
Then if they become a threat to us, we fund more terrorists and groups to fight the previous ones (which angers the other half of the world that is inconvenienced by this). Then, when they've done our work for us again, we dump them and stop supporting them once again (which makes them angry as well)--and the process goes on and on and on.
After all this, we wind up with two sets of anti-American terrorists who are stronger than they were before we got involved, and we've ticked of much off the world in the whole process (by putting these people in power).
There's my two cents.

The common person in America could say all of the right answers in a heart beat. Let us go and interview people from Britain about American cities and states, people in the government, and other issues. This is a load of bull####.
I am an Australian 15 year old and I could tell you alot about American Government and point out most of the people in power, granted not from all the states as you have too many xD. I could name and point out all of the leaders from every state and territory in Australia as I am sure most British people could name and point out all of the British Leaders. It is a disgrace that any Americans don't know there own leaders and government policies.
They went to one single place and asked questions to random people. How many people had the right answers? Probably a lot. But would they show that? No. The thing that pissed me off the most was the triangle question. The people were obviously joking around but the video was cut immediately after they said the wrong answer. Come on... TRIangle?
The blonde seemed genuine. I doubt they they happened to ask a bunch of improv comics.
I'm sick of people saying 'America is Dumb!' when they have never even been to the country.
Americans say the middle east is bad, but I doubt most of them have ever been there.
I don't know, I've been to the south... It isn't pretty. If you want to call southerners stupid, be my guest. Anyone who flies a confederate flag is living in the past. 200 years in the past.
You say that another part of the world is dumb and yet you get pissed off when another part of the world says that your part of the world is stupid, pompous, arrogent and mislead? Stop prooving them right
Another little example is the Swastika. It was a symbol of peace... Now people want to kill those who wear it on their arms.
Things change, the Swatstika is now a symbol for nazism, evil and Hitl4r.

I am talking about the KKK southerners. The Posse southerners. The ones who really do make America looks like a bunch of fat dirt-digging Neanderthals.
Heh heh, yeah, "look" like a bunch of cavemen.
Yeah.
I only generalize in jest.
For instance, did you know that all Middle-Easterners who come to america work as cab drivers and wear turbans that smell of currey?
>:o
My turban smells of camel spit, thank you very much!
Any country can be "stupid" when some dude picks a handful of blockheads of the street and quizzes them. Cut the damn anti-American insults; it just makes you look ignorant.
Take a joke, damnit, I said that they probably had to swamp through mounds of people before they got to a retard.

Yeah...a Swastika armband is kinda exlusive to Nazis, since in religious purposes it's kida desecration.
Never heard of the Coalition of the Willing. I'll be honest. England is in the CotW.
The Pound is used in GB. Pound Sterling, actually.
Kofi Annan...I'm gonna go with somebody in the UN. UN Seceratary General until about 2 weeks ago.
Axis of Evil. Iraq, North Korea, Iran. Or German, Italy and Japan.

No, not really. America is not anti-middle east, but anti-terrorist. It just so happenes that they reside in the middle east.

I say that certain /people/ from my world are dumb, as it is the same anywhere. I don't say that the country is dumb on a whole, as everyone else says.
On a final note I would like to say to the southerners around here:
I appologized for my first statement about the south. I was not talking about all southerners, but about rednecks who happen to be in majority in the south. (Not population majority, but you will find many more rednecks in the south than in the north.)
Again, I am speaking of the KKK southerners, the ones who hate the 'city slickers' and support anything their goverment tells them to support. As for the rest of the people in the south with brains, they are okay by me. I am not classifying the entire southern region, just certian people that live there.
I don't wish to generalize an entire region from the mistakes of some that live there.

I lived in the states for 8 years. I'm convinced that the majority of your country consists of absolute dimwits. I've also lived in germany for 10 years in total and I KNOW that most of our country consists of absolute dimwits.
But what are you doing? You're saying "we aren't stupid, only most of us. Exclude those and we're ####ing brilliant!" You can't exclude the south because they're bad apples. They're part of your country and just as American as you are. If they're stupid, it reflects on you. People consider Americans to be idiots because the vast majority of people ARE idiots (is idiots? a majority is idiots? Are idiots? Gafwk!) You can't claim that you're not and just say "oh, the south doesn't count. Highschool dropouts don't count either. Neither do gangstas incapable of multisyllabic speech."
People are idiots. Germans and British can't name cities in Utah while many, many people in Utah couldn't name the capital of Canada. Israelis probably couldn't find the capital of Indonesia if their life depended on it while people in Indonesia will have a hard time naming the larges Russian city in the Siberian Region.
Americans are just pinpointed as the laughingstock of the world because you offer it. You and your extreme political views and actions combined with your president don't give you a good image. So in order to draw attention away from our own faults, we seek them in others. And who would be a better target than the US? It's large, diverse, you'll find idiots of every race and color, and you make a point to show the world that you know jack #### about the rest of the world and you care jack #### about the rest of the world. That's why no one will ever consider you more than a country of giant babies with nuclear weapons.
You know I am very patriotic. And you know how touchy I get on these things.
Don't take it personally.
Yes, patriotism. That was the word I was looking or. Patriotism is antisocial towards the rest of the world and will draw their hate upon you. Patriotism is one step away from nationalism, and then you might as well call yourself the Fourth Reich.
It is amazing how hated someone can be for being proud of themselves. We have done great things, yet the world will continue to hate us. Why? Because we live a different lifestyle. I have yet to see someone go 'Damn, I hate those British' or 'I hate those Canadians' (Seriously). We don't think we are better than everyone else, but we do realize our own power as a global superpower.
You realize it and fail to use it effectively. No one hates you because you're proud of yourself. Everyone hates you because you show that pride by being arrogant and making others look worse. You make yourself more important than you are and are insulted when people don't share your views.
I can. What now?
Lastly, I don't care what anyone says. I wouldn't trade living in America for anything in the world. We're better than you. We know that we're better than you. You #### your pants daily because you also know that we're better than you. Tough ####, move along.
Who's we? Your social security system? The joke you cann national health care? Your... economy (cue laughing)? or your incredible ability to fight a war without ever really managing to end it? Is it because you have more fat cells per capita than the rest of the world? Because you have bigger cars that need more gas and pollute the air more?
You're not better than any other western country. On the contrary. You live in the time period between WWII and the end of the world war and have failed to realize that you are no longer the greatest country in the world.
The Confederate flag isn't really a representation of "KILL THOSE DAMN YANKEES!!!" anymore.
It's more like, "My family lived in this area for a long while, and this is the flag my ancestor had in 1862."
If you find someone who still considers themself a part of the CSA that isn't a complete nutcase, you can prove me wrong.
So the Nazi flag is just a sign for "my family lived here during the Third Reich but we have no ideological affiliation whatsoever"?
Yea. Right -_-

Hooray Generalizations!. The face of the US that you see is the face of the Bush Administration. You see their politics, their policies, their ideologies. You don't hear anything from Jackson of Atlanta, Georgia. People see those people blindly following Bush, so they might assume that all Americans support Bush wholly. However, they interviewed Texans. They love the guy. There's not much I can do to change that. Last time I checked, 14 year olds voting in federal elections was quite frowned upon in the US. So in order to draw attention away from our own faults, we seek them in others. And who would be a better target than the US? It's large, diverse, you'll find idiots of every race and color, and you make a point to show the world that you know jack #### about the rest of the world and you care jack #### about the rest of the world.

The large corporations are #######s. I agree. They're trying to cover their own ass and don't give a damn about the people they are supposed to serve now-a-days. The death penalty is...effective, to say the least. The American courts are screwed up. Life in prison doesn't mean "Life in prison." It means "Stay in Prison until you're about 65 or 70 and then get released on parole." So basically, that means that dangerous murderers and violent criminals are being released back into society. You might say that they're old and weak now, but how much strength does one need to fire a weapon? They've killed before. Who says they won't kill again? And the government feeds all this Bee-Ess about prison rehabiliating people. Right. Being locked into a tiny box for 40 years really helps people see the error of their ways. Murderers shouldn't be put back into society, they are dangerous. So you have to keep them behind bars for life. Which rarely happens. And it's expensive. There's a simple solution...
Only the most horrendous murders and other extremely violent crimes carry the death penalty. The people sentenced to death should have thought about the death penalty before they committed their grievous crime.

America is the most prideful country apart from nations and cultures in the middle east. Who are more on a religious trip than a "yay, we're pakistani, woo hoo us!". Europeans despise and laugh at patriotism. Why? Maybe because it's backwards and medieval, or it's just effing hilarious to watch patriots get angry over nothing. But we despise patriotism. Maybe because it's so close to nationalism, which no one likes. Who knows.
I don't understand here. Are we not allowed to like America? Is their some kind of mass genocide going on in the US that I am not aware of?

A human life is a human life. NO ONE gives you the right to decide who lives and dies. No one. It's expensive? So you better kill him? Apart from the innocent people (especially poor people!) who are caught in the system and who no one gives a #### about, the death penalty resorts to violence against violent people. Those are kindergarten techniques. You can't help them so you treat them like animals. Humans are incapable of justly deciding who dies and who doesn't. A black man who kills his girlfriend and the guy she cheated with will get the death penalty. A white man who rapes children will get 20 years and be out after 5 on parole. That's not justice. Will the scientist ever have to weld machinery. Try asking people about their strengths instead of their weaknesses.America is involved in too much. Which is the reason it should not be employed. It robs someone of the chance to prove his innocence. If there were an absolute court capable of knowing the truth, then by all means, an eye for an eye is about as just as it gets. Giving a mass murderer free food and lodging for the rest of his life but not helping homeless people with the same service is a little... odd, to say the very least.
But we don't know. Which makes us bad judges which means permanent sentences are not within our power.

Now that "What side does a triangle have?" question is just stupid. I don't think Americans are THAT stupid. And like chejrw said, I haven't met any Americans that know much about Canada, either. I have met a lot of Americans, I said I was from Canada, and they said either "Where is Canada?" or "What's Canada?".
