Yeah my computer is expensive because Dell uses the most expensive RAM out there. If you are planning to buy a Good computer get that cow computer (GateWay).

If you want the best computer for the cheapest price, build your own. Gateway, Dell, Campaq, and the others all charge WAY too much. Expensive RAM has nothing to do with the fact that they overcharge. To stay on topic, here is my computer for 1300.
AMD Athlon 2800 XP
Geforce 4 Ti 4600
512 MB DDR RAM
SB Audigy 2
Well thats most of it

kevinok
08-07-2003, 12:46 AM
no these days dell is really really cheap

[WDL]Major
08-07-2003, 12:53 AM

Avoid one word posts. Thank you
Sory I wont do it again

Anyways I think any computer shouldnt have over 80 or even 60 GB of space. because you will never even use that much, and if u do your computer will most likely go extreamly SLOWWWWW.. (unless u have a super computer..)

jason
08-08-2003, 06:59 PM
my uncle has 2 like 200gb hard drives and they are full and his pc is still fast

[WDL]Major

CastleFreak04
08-09-2003, 02:52 AM
that is cool....i htink to buy all teh parts at a store and make it urself is more expensive than getting it done by a store...well its actually the same but u have the quality of u doing it...so it could be better actually...they could make a mistake and over look it and when u do it u can make it perfect

Speed mostly depends on the OS you use. If you use Windows with a p4, you just get partial performance. Try this page to determine the best OS to use.

This was bumped from 4 years ago by a multi-posting noob, guys. I wouldn't keep posting your specs.

Matt

By golly your right...

This thread was kind of interesting now that it is bumped, because we can see how much the cost of hardware has dropped in 3-4 years. Most $2000 rigs in the this thread can be built now for $300ish.
