Well guys and gals, I've been in cahoots with Skye for the past couple of months, and together we proudly bring you the release of Chicken Jockey!

Check out the main page to play the game. :)

Yay, I kept wondering when it was going to come out

Needless to say, it was a large project (just over 8000 lines of action script alone), and I am just one man. Hehe...

Looks cool, but I'm posting right in front of my math teacher right now, and any more movement and I'll get busted. I'll play layer.

Awesome. I found a secret. :D

I'll play more later.

One request: Could there be a "back" button in some of the screens? For example, I accidentally go to the track: I have to wait through the whole thing before I can get back to main screen.

Actually, I had back buttons on the track and the fight pit screens before, but during beta testing it was found that you could use them to cheat. If the matchups you saw weren't desirable, you could just back out and keep going back in until you found a good one.

You'll just have to make a small bet, or watch the race. :) Its a good way to scout good chickens though!

Ah, I see. Good choice then.

Heh, I just started playing on a computer with speakers. The music is possibly the greatest thing ever. Nice work. :D

EDIT: The clucking noises in the coop are awesome too. Great sound design.

 Thanks! It was a free midi file on the internet that I found while looking for good music...I converted it to mp3 and the rest was history. :)

AGH. Got sooo high on the.... secret.... and then the stupid Xgen ad (that is adblocked) refreshed, and I lost focus of the game. Gah.

Very fun game, Fiz. Addicting. How do you decrease the fatigue of your chicken, though? Is it just over time that it decreases?

I didn't listen to the sound yet, because my windows decided that it didn't like to play ANY sounds now, (Even though my laptop speakers). It like disabled teh mixer or summit. Wucking Findows >_<

God, I think I actually saw this show once... http://www.whydidthechickencrosstheroad.com/sounds/super-chicken/theme-full.wav

I think the game needs some sort of autosaving feature to prevent cheating.

Edit: Teh glitchxorz! Like after a cockfight, where it shows how much you won, if you hit continue in the bottom left instead of OK in that window, the game freezes.

Very fun game, Fiz. Addicting. How do you decrease the fatigue of your chicken, though? Is it just over time that it decreases?

Fatigue decreases naturally over time, but if you can afford it, you can get your chicken to play "Virtual Fox Attack" at the Rec Center. The longer you last, the happier, less fatigued, and less lazy your chicken becomes.

Thanks for the comments guys! This game will likely be updated with new content and more things you can buy, etc. in the near future.

As for the bug, good find! I forgot to disable that button when the jockey status screen comes up. I'll include that bug fix in the next update. I don't want to keep sending the game to Skye every day...hehe...he's a busy guy!

EDIT: Oh right...autosave. :) I was thinking about this, but chose not to include it, since those who didn't want their game to be saved against their will wouldn't like it. Maybe in the future I'll do a poll. ;)

I just made 50k and saved a variation of my account =P

I think you should prolly put in some sort of anti cheating thing.

Fiz

There's really no way to prevent cheating. As long as people can close the browser after knowing they aren't going to win an event, there's no way to stop anyone from bypassing any kind of save.

Its like if you're playing a sports game, and you're in the playoffs...if you're losing, you can just keep resetting the game until you win. :)

You can determine the outcome before the match starts, and then save it. We don't know how it ends untill we finish, and by then it's alread saved.

Fiz

That's true, but that would require changing the code completely. Right now the results are determined on the fly during the races and fights, depending on the attributes and personalities of each chicken. Also, it goes against my previous thought that forcing people to save wouldn't be very nice. :) Good idea though!

Thanks. I suppose that you'll never completely obliterate cheating, but as long as you dont put scores online, it's alright.

Very fun game, though. Very addicting!

Thanks Lep, appreciate it!

Yeah, scores won't be posted online any time soon. There's no real way to tell how people are playing the game, but as long as they're playing it, I'm happy. :)

I like it a lot. Keeps me entertained during programming class. :D

As strange a compliment as it seems, I do believe it's the best sound design I've ever seen in a Flash game. The music and sound effects fit the game perfectly.

I like the classic chicken graphics too, but they could stand some sharpening.

I tried shapening them all I could...hehehe...those chickens have been ported from an old version of the game, and I guess I was kind of attached to them...they look fuzzy and warm to me...

Wow, best sound design? I'm truly complimented. :)
