View Full Version : I've been having multiple nightmares lately.
Normally, I dream pleasant stuff, or I dream and don't remember it at all.
Lately though, I've been having these really short and actually scary nightmares, many of them the kind that you can't really tell are dreams, and also the kind where you wake up in the dream, but you are still dreaming.
Does anyone know what can cause this? I haven't had any recent changes in diet or habits, nor any excess stress or nervousness. Nonetheless, for the past few weeks, I have these pretty terrifying dreams every time I drift to sleep.
I probably wouldn't care, except it's getting to the point that I am losing sleep, and also I sleep in school between classes (long breaks) and I've been waking up freaking out in front of people.
I don't know if this matters, but I can also lucidly dream most of the time.. but these dreams I can't control at all, nor do I usually even recognize they are dreams until I wake up.
Halp =(

Riddle me this:
1- Have you changed your diet?
2- Have you had a traumatic experience? Breakup? Death in family?
3- Have you been working out more or being more active lately?
4- How old are you?

Can you describe some of these nightmares for us? Like what are you doing in these dreams? What is chasing/scaring you?

This happened a few weeks ago to me. But it was stress, and I let it out in front of my Guidance Counselor at my school and I have begun to either not dream or have good dreams again.
This should go in Advice/Help, as well. Anyway, just think about what has happened in the past moths and figure it out.
Riddle me this:
1- Have you changed your diet?If you read, no, I didn't =P
2- Have you had a traumatic experience? Breakup? Death in family? My step-grandmother died recently, but I was not very close with her at all.
3- Have you been working out more or being more active lately?Once again, if you read, I haven't changed any habits =D
4- How old are you?

Anyways, yeah I haven't really been under a lot of stress. My life has been going pretty great.
To who asked, the dreams I've been having have been really abstract and trippy. It's not like I am focusing in on or reliving a tragic event. Most of the time they feature near charicature like representations of people I know, and it's usually just a terrifying situation where I wake up with an overwhelming sense of fear. There is no reoccuring scene or theme.

The best cure for a nightmare is to stop it in its tracks. Next time you go to sleep, try to tell yourself it is a dream/you are in a nightmare. Then control the dream and make the bad things go bye-bye.
If you aren't gonna read a topic, don't respond. Like I said, I can already dream lucidly, which means I can control my dreams. However, these I cannot.

If you go to bed wanting to dream, or in deep thought, you won't have dreams.

Well, sometimes it doesn't matter how close you are with someone if they die it can effect you in some ways.

Try eating a banana half an hour before you go to bed...it apparently helps you sleep calmly at night...I can't say how sound a piece of advice that is as I'm allergic to them...

I am too, actually. So thanks for the advice, but I am in the same boat as you with that haha.
And to whoever asked, I am wearing a band t-shirt, jeans, black hoodie, and circa shoes.

Maybe its your diet...I know you haven't changed anything about your diet but maybe your body has changed how it reacts to the food you eat... I wasn't allergic to bananas until a few years ago when I developed an allergy...
