Just now I was at a store and saw, of all people, two grandparents, One 50 year old, and a group of teenagers, ALL talking about their Myspace! They were all random people, in various parts of the store. The group was just talking, and the adults were both on there cellhpones talking about it. It was seriously weird and made me realize how messed up people can be, for old people to be on myspace..

Yes, because something that unites people of all genders, ages, class, race, sexual preference and walks of life is such a degrading thing to humanity.

I agree with Screech but it is still very compelling how one specific thing can capture the minds and the time of all sorts of people. It's a bit scary I think, not necessarily degrading to humanity, but it's very odd.

It's not degrading, but rather unusual because we are so used to the complete opposite: total segregation and division based on race, age, religion, or other factories.
It's degrading to say the unity feels strange, but it does.

Not exactly degrading, but in a sense that people are supporting and using a site that doesn't even take any sort of action to prevent rape, ect..

Not exactly degrading
-looks at title-
A little contradiction there?

No. I was saying that I am not using the word to its fullest extent.

"Prevent Rape"
Ha. Those people who meet someone who only says that they are their age, or that they have something cool to show them and to meet them at wherever are retards. Those people are the degrading part.
It's the internet phenomenon. The internet has made everything so easy to access and everyone so easy to communicate with, that litterally everyone on the world could be a part of a radical movement all at once.
Now, MySpace isn't exactly world changing, but it's pretty compelling how the internet can bring us together as a world.
It's really one step closer to bringing one world government, and eventually world peace.

Ecchs Jenn doesn't try to prevent rape, neither does Gamefaqs or Roosterteeth. Not even google.
The internet itself doesn;t even try and stop it

####, now that you mention it, I think I better sue my university for not offering anti-rape security measures. Hotmail and Google are next on my list as well. And I can't wait til I can fight through to Microsoft.com!

I dont see what is so "degrading" about this... so your saying that old people who use MySpace or use the Internet are weird?

Who the #### is united by myspace, before myspace there was blogs, before blogs ther was aim, before aim there was aol, before aol there was irc, before that telephones, before that mail, and so on and so on. Myspace isnt that great its just using the current technology to use what we have always used. Nothing special here.

Having just one government worldwide would be a travesty to human rights and the welfare of the world.
There are plenty of people who think that the United States is horribly abusing human rights, especially within Guantanamo Bay. Although I'll admit that the United States does push the boundaries quite a bit, there is still quite a bit of influence that other countries can provide to our government in order to help maintain a decent level of human rights for both citizens of the United States and prisoners of the United States.
Without other countries to provide a positive influence, a worldwide government would oppress the people of the world.
Without a strong and consistent balancing force, government always heads down the path of oppression.

Like the lack of rights in Guantanamo? The lack of a lawyer or contact to the outside world maybe? And lets not forget the oh so humane methods -_-

...anyways, myspace is the biggest peice of crap on the internet ever.
I think PC magazine or something even named it the worst site of all time.

Lots of people are united by Myspace. I mean, Myspace is in no way a radical/innoative/new concept. But it is just the sheer popularity and number of people on Myspace that units--dare I say it--the entire english speaking world. For God's sakes, everyone in my nuclear family (Even my mom and Dad... against my Dad's will though) has a Myspace.

Uh... 99% of the people on MySpace clearly can't speak English. Also, I've never met a person with an IQ over 150 who has a MySpace.
So, your statement is not only false, it is ignorant.

I use MySpace...but for the soul purpose of advertising my friends music...he's really talented and I'm just giving him a hand, it really does nothing for him though...

Heh, no, not directly. But the first real step would be to get everyone to communicate. MySpace helps people from around the globe connect.
Having just one government worldwide would be a travesty to human rights and the welfare of the world.

Well, of course. But I don't think that the entire world will ever be one country, just one government. Similar to the United Nations, but with actual power. The world would basically become a confederacy, with a world-wide government within which every country has one representative. Thus, democracy is upheld, and other countries are checked by each other in the voting process.
This is all theoretical, obviously, I don't claim to know everything that will happen. I just think that it's a logical step sometime in the future.

All anyone talks about in school is myspace. I figure at this point it is an epidemic. And like any epidemic, the infecte's should be quarentined.

Has it ever occured to you that their are communities outside of Xgen whgo actually don't care whether they type over the internet in proper English or not? So what, some kids don't type proper. That doesn't mean that they are stupid, lazy, or any other negative comment that you can conjure in your mind.
And honestly, I don't think I have ever actually met a person with an IQ over 150. I'm considered above-average by my teachers, and I'm at about 120.
