I've been interrupted twice, so I'll just keep this short.
I rarely ever have dreams.
Why not?
How do I make it so I have dreams more often?

I usually forget most dreams shortly after I wake up, so it seems like I have very few dreams.

I know it has something to do with REM cycles and the like but I have no idea beyond that.
But tank is right. most people forget their dreams shortly after waking. I had a dream last night but I can hardly remember anything beyond the fact that it was a dream

I had a dream last night that I went to Disney World with one of my managers, but I forgot to tell the main manager that I wouldn't be at work that day, so I made the other manager call and get me off the hook. >.>
I rarely ever remember my dreams.

I had a dream where I was skydiving but my parachute didn't work and then I pounded in to the ground, people didn't miss me or anything.
It was like some weird TV sitcom daydream.

I get dreams on a regular basis. Actually, everyone dreams a night, about 30-100 dreams (Not sure about the number, forgot.) You probably just forgot about them. Dont worry, nothing bad is happening.

I always get dreams. I just don't remember most of them. I wish I did. :(
As said before. You probably had one before but forgot about it, but if you never ever had a dream...WEIRDO! :P

30-100?
I thought it was 6-8.
Most people really just rarely remember them, some people even are concious in their dream. Lucid dreaming I think its called. Ive had just one in all my life, best thing you could have though.

Dreams are awesome. I mean, I've had dreams where I've been fully aware what was going on, and I could control the dream. Imagine a world where you could control anything and everything... I pray for that dream to come back.

Sounds likeyou can lucrid dream, Dom.
Loads of people forget their dreams, it's only natural. One thing people reccomend is keeping a dream journal, so in the first five minutes you wake up, you can make a habbit out of recording everything you will forget five minutes later. For one, writing dreams out helps you remember them, and two, you can look back and see patterns and be able to analize them.
I've had some really messed up dreams in the past, so I've looked thesed things up. Very interesting, the world of dreams.

And the cool thing is, some dreams can or could predict the future. So your dream about winning a nobel prize or aceing a exam could become real.

No. Something like seeing yourself win the nobel prize is not a prediction. It's an aspiration. Something like a nobel prize doesn't jump on your doorstep randomly, saying "Love me! I am a nobel prize, you lucky son of a gun!". Chances are, if you dream about the nobel prize, it's an aspiration and a goal that you work towards.
Can predictions happen? Yes they can. My father had a surprise medical condition that caused him to become paralyzed within the operation (which no one suspected), and my mother drempt about it six months before. However, in her dream she was talking about it with a friend (which ended up happening), but she thought it was about her friends husband, not hers.

It seems like... I'm an exceptional case in what you guys are talking about. Very rarely do I have dreams that I can remember the instant I do up. But WHENEVER I remember a dream from when I woke up, it stays implented in my mind forever. I can recall at least 6 dreams I had from before the age of 8, and more then a dozen after that.

I know what you mean, lucid.
Look up some stuff on google about this for better explanation, but ive read somewhere that you can actually manipulate when you have one. Takes lots of meditation though.

Happened to me too. For one of the dreams, it starts off normally with me just living in my dream. Then I notice something really wierd and then I become fully aware of it. I controlled it all...
And when the creepy stuff came up, like a vampire about to bite me, I would change its teeth into vibrating massaging soft thingies. Aaahhhhh...

Most dreams are forgotten.
I know I had some last night, but I have no recollection what they were about. The only memorable ones I have are often disturbing, and I'm given a 3rd person perspective, instead of being myself. I usually don't control my dreams.

I've found that for me, I don't remember most of my dreams, whether or not I try in the first 5 minutes. They're just... not there, most of the time.

So unless my short term memory is really bad, I have not had a single dream for a few years.

I remember some of my better dreams.
Like I would be walking along a dirt road, surrounded left and right by grass, and in the distance, temperate earthy mountains. However, suddenly I would think of a working cross-section of a working internal combustion engine and wake up in cold sweats. I had these for a good year or three.
One night, I didn't wake up, and the dream continued. It then panned around to me and my best friend with a 21" Ferghauson (sp?) television from the late 1990's my parents had in front of us. I said "Hey, that's like my TV, except the screen curves inwards and not outwards".
I've never had the dream since.

I once had a dream where I was being chased by an electric saw.
And just recently, I saw this one Ernest movie where the exact same thing happens.
Although, I might have seen that movie before I had that dream, but I don't remember it.

So, you mean you do have dreams?
I swear the first post previously said "I never have dreams" or something like that.
Jeez, man. Most people forget any dreams they had as soon as they wake up, and only remember a very small percentage.
I mean, I only remember about 3% of mine.
So, this thread is pretty pointless?

Everyone has basically been repeating the same thing, that nobody remembers their dreams.
But it would be impossible to know this if these people didn't remember forgetting their dreams.
Do you get what I'm saying?
These people know they've had dreams, they just don't remember what they were.

My aunt dreamt about 9/11 the night before it happened. And she told me about it in the morning before any of it happened. I was going to school and I mentioned a dream I had that night and then she said she had a dream where she was standing atop the Twin Towers fearing to look over the edge and then a burning plane flew by and crashed...and we live in Ireland so we don't usually dream about those buildings.
I broke my bed once in a dream. You know those dreams when you're walking about but in real life your legs are actually lifting up and down in the bed. I was kicking a cat off me once and broke the bottom of the bed.

Lucid dreams is the term, there are a few ways to do that, it's quite difficult. I have only had about 2 lucid dreams myself, but they're quite great. But the good thing about having a bit of conciousness in your dreams is with nightmares, I usually wake myself up from them subconciously having the "I this is a dream, and it's scary as hell get rid of it" will to it.

Everybody dreams! This is a scientifically proven fact. Research has shown that all human beings in a study showed brain activity during their sleep. Just because you cannot remember your dreams does not mean that you do not dream. So why is it that some people don't remember their dream? This may be attributed to alcohol consumption, certain antibiotics, fever, lack of sleep, high levels of stress, and/or unconscious fears about the content of your dreams. Some researchers believe that certain people have a genetic disposition to forget their dreams as they come out of their sleep.

surprisingly as hell, i just did a short report on dreams. you dont remember your dreams but you always have them in the REM stages of sleep (fifth and final). dreams are very often forgot, if you sleep more you will probably remember them. www.dreamviews.com (http://www.dreamviews.com) little to do with it, but it explains it a little.

If you don't seem to 'have dreams', can you at last remember 'having' them? if not, GET MORE SLEEP.
I don't remember the majority of my dreams (mainly the ones I want to), but I can usually get myself out of a nightmare.

But you remember that you had a dream
I don't.
Think about dreaming before you go to sleep everynight. Think about what is on your mind what you want to dream, how you want to dream, what you want to do if you get in your dream. Nearly every sinle time I have dreamed it was about the most prominent thing on my mind. A lot of the time, I go to bed thinking something else is moeimportant to me. But then I dream about something near the back of my mind and realize that--looking back on it--what I once thought was more important to me was not.
When you dream, you are basically turning a story into a play. Recount on what you have done, what you would want to do, and basically... just your entire day every night before you sleep. And eventually, you will dream. And eventually the words

If you aren't getting 8+ hours of sleep every night it will ultimately result in effecting the lenght of REM sleep in which the most vivid dreams occur. When in a deeper sleep after REM is when most dreams happen, at least to me. I remeber my dreams, but not completely and I forget them almost completely whent he day is over.
Forgetting your dreams immediately or shortly after waking?
You aren't getting enough of vitamin B6.
After you start to sleep and you stop thinking is usually when REM starts. The rest.... Just read the Sleep Physioligy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep) section.

If you don't go through a REM phase at least once a night you'll die after a while.

Dreams are odd things. (this will be a bit off topic).
Have you ever wondered why you're woken up when you get to the main part of a dream? It's because our brains function a lot easier when we're in a subconscious state, so it kind of records the dream, and then as soon as you wake up, your brain makes it seem like the dream has been playing in your mind for a while, when you've only just woken up. The brain picks a select few to send to the short-term memory, and it picks the ones which transmit high amounts of brain waves, such as scary ones, which is why more nightmares are remembered than dreams.
I had a sex dream last night. It was awesome.
Uh...Yeah, that's about all I have to say on the matter.

You always have dreams. You just do not realise it, It is mostly bacause the majority of your dreams are "boring" in a way to say it.
It's kind of like in school, Science is so boring that you forget all about it and what to study too put it in noob words.

Actually, if you tend to sleep late or not get a lot of sleep, your REM cycles may be disturbed.
I remember I used to never have dreams when I stayed up and watched adult swim, but now that I'm going to bed at 11 regularly, I usually have a dream every night.

My oddest dream was when I started talking out of the story to a NPC person about the set and props. "****ing buget cuts. They had to reuse some stuff from other dreams." She said. "What can you do about it" I said. Then the dream started again. I picked up a cube and flew with it being chased. I curled myself in to a ball around the cube. I could fly with that cube.
Or it was the one where the lego raft shook me in to a screaming fit.
