I purchased photoshop (the newest edition) with my parents credit card without them knowing. It cost like 500 bucks and when they find out that i did this they're gonna freak out and kill me. I cant return the program becase i already installed it... What should i do? Should i wait till they find out and deny it or tell them now and get screwed over?

You shouldn't have disobeyed them I say work it off and get a job, 10 years old you say? Get a paper route or mow lawns.

given the fact that he made three locked threads about the same thing in SA. he doesn't seem like the type able to make a correct decision so quickly

You sound screwed to me. I think you should just tell the truth. The best advice I can think of.

Some guy from Algeria tried to steal my credit card number. It's a long story...

Try and get 500$ and pay back your parents once they find out. Mow lawns, shovel snow off driveways, rake leaves off of lawns, get a job... that was still a stupid idea.

Ur a ####tard... .never i mean NEVER steal money from ur parents... if ur over 16, u'll be lucky that u wont get kicked out of the house. Neway, if any of your parents are understanding in neway, then find a calm time to sit down and talk.. but make sure u finished all ur homework... the talk can last for a while....

ok if they like honesty, then tell them the truth, because if they do like honesty, you have a chance of them lightening your punishments

I remember when I was 9 I broke a window, denied it, and my parents found out and grounded me for 3 weeks. About a month later, I broke another window (yes I am clumsy) and told them and got no punishment whatsoever. In your case, you will have a big punishment whatsoever, so tell them, they will still lose trust but not as much. You will still get punished, but much less.

Go to your parents, and say:

"I made a really stupid decision. I saw all these kids online with cool art and I wanted to make it too, so I used your credit card to buy the program they used to make the cool art. I didn't stop to think about how much much money the $500 it cost really was. Now that I've thought of how to pay you back, I realize that it's alot of work for that much money. However, I'm willing to work hard to earn back the money I stole, and here are a few ideas (list ideas here). If you have any more work for me, I'll be happy to do it."

Man, 500$ on a credit card? thats going to build up.

I think these guys have it right. Just go and be honest. However, you could always try out a more "creative" path.

"I thought it said 5$! not 500$!" -now, don't forget to pause dramaticly, sniff a bit, a sole tear running down your left cheek- "Oh mom, Oh dad, I am so sorry. How could I ever pay you back?"

Here's a thought, ask them for it as if you didn't do it already, try and get them to say yes, have it come out of holiday money/gift etc etc. If it fails you would have screwed yourself worse than you already have, but it might work depends.

Your profile says you are 17. If you don't already have a job, you'll probably be getting one soon. If you do have one, and you don't have 500 cash spare, just tell them you're working on it, and see if you can work over-time etc.

Maybe you can cut the lawn to cut 10 bucks off your debt, or other similar chores.

Don't rely on pure chores to pay them back, because they'll still be out 500 bucks.

If you get a good job and your 17, you could probably get $500 in about... a week or two? Just fess up.

Yeah even at minimum wage you can pay off $500 in about 3 weeks, just work some extra hours.

As for breaking it to your parents... EMC's little paragraph seemed perfect. I'd use that.
