Fireworks.. is one of the best programs you can use for graphics and web design.

You just have to be smart to use it.

I didn't feel like you had to be smart to use Fireworks, it just takes a little bit of testing. I just played around with all of the tools and such for a while and now I am quite comfortable with it.

Most of the games on Xgen have some work done on Fireworks.

Personally, i really prefer good ol' Flash for graphics design..dunno why...I do use Fireworks sometimes, though..

Fireworks is quite useful. Most of my site uses Fireworks graphics.
You don't have to save with PNG's either. Those are just the document files. You can also create slices of the image and export them as GIF's (very useful for web design).

Freehand is really weird. I guess it would be useful is you were in the graphic design business. It's all vector graphics, and weird 3D transformations. Illustrator is probably better though.
