I've had this problem for a few years, since then Whenever I try to do any school work at home I either get bored to death and can't focus so I watch T.V at the same time or I remove all distractions and still can't concentrate.

When I do homework everything seems so slow and I end up taking an hour just to finish one class's work. Most of this is probably because when I get home I pretty much go straight to my room till 10 PM, which is when I usually start my homework. I realize that's a problem but I don't think I can do anything about it.

All this has been affecting my grades harshly, and I need a quick solution. Thanks,

Take your schoolwork or homework to the library. Work it there, where you won't get as much as distractions you will get. Be ambitious. Motivate your self, that always works.

Yes you can. When you get home, try to do your homework as early as possible. Then you won't be thinking about it all day long and you'll be able to enjoy the day more. Try to get into a habit of doing it early. I don't know what to do about the part where you can't concentrate though... I usually can do my homework by the computer with some music on. I can't do it while watching TV though. Maybe you should just stay away from every TV?

Alternatively you could go to detention, I remember getting one and having a 100 in all of my homework for that week.

You could have Attention Deficit Disorder. Tell your parents about your bad attention span, and ask to go get tested for ADD.

I have it, and In quiet places with little distractions I can do homework, it's all about location.

Just because someone doesn't focus well on menail work doesn't mean they have ADD. I have plenty of trouble focusing on schoolwork, but because it doesn't interest me. I can work for days on something if I enjoy it. Doing it early doesn't help the problem at all. All you can do is try different situations and scenarios until something helps you work. I find I am able to concentrate better when I have my tv on.

Everyone has their own optimal way for completing homework - depending on how they perform in school, their attention span, distractions / focusers, and so on. Since your grades obviously do not allow for you to be experimenting with various environments, you'll just have to face up to the reality that if you don't do your homework, you will suffer the consequences. Yes, that episode of MacGyver may be extra appealing, and yes, Suzy does take up a lot of your mind; but neither of those distractions will get you a B in calculus. Until you've got the time to figure out what works for you, you'll just have to muddle through.

I do whats best. Get rid of distractions. I, like probably everyone who plays cs, was hooked on it. I simply couldent get enough of it- like 5 hours a day every day. So what i did was- bang, uninstall steam. I now have a life! =D I re-installed it, first i was skeptical that it would hook me again. But thats not true, i cannot play games for more than about 1.5 hours before getting bored and going off to do something outside or whatever. So try remove your distractions that works best! I know its hard, but its worth it.
