Well, lemme give you a quick lesson.
1. Please spell correctly, use complete sentances, and use commas and periods.
2. I read the thread that you posted in the SRPG forum, and you might not want to post 5 posts in a row, beause this is breaking the rules. Only post one post at a time.
3. No one is going to just say "Hey, you know what I have nothing to do for 5 weeks, Ill just sit in front of my computer that whole time and make a complicated RPG for some guy I just met and has poor grammar."
My suggestion:
Use better grammar, and get Flash and make one yourself.
Match Stick

Sorry about my grammer and spelling, but you will
get over it. I dont want to make my own game. I
cant figure it out. I did not know about the rules.
Obviously you care way to much!

thank you? you sounded totally rude, not like you were 'helping' him like you said.
maybe next time you help people you should try to sound more helpful and less jerkish.

Thanks bodadem!
Well, the reason I was rude, is because it doesnt work to be nice.
koodles4you
12-20-2004, 12:43 PM
it doesn't work to be nice? Has Match Stick done anything to show you that he doesn't respond to niceness? He, for all you know, could be the nicest person on the planet.
bodaem, being older doesn't always mean your wiser. look at our situation for instance, being a jerk before even trying to be nice to someone doesn't sound very wise to me...

Sorry about my grammer and spelling, but you will
get over it. I dont want to make my own game. I
cant figure it out. I did not know about the rules.
So he didn't know the rules and made no effort to read them and inform himself. He tells us to make a Stick RPG for him.
Making new SRPG. i need you to make it. thank you
I don't know how they define nice in Texas, but "I need you to make it" doesn't sound nice. It wasn't even a question, not to mention the lack of a please or a "could you". I think that establishes that this person isn't the nicest person in the world, nor does he seem very social if it seems normal to him that someone would make a complex game for a complete stranger. If I were to make an RPG with a decent engine, I certainly wouldn't give it to some complete stranger who 'needs me to make it.'
Let's say some random person on the street insults you. You certainly won't be nice to them, you'll tell them to go away and leave you alone. But that doesn't make you a jerk, it makes you someone who wants nothing to do with the jerk who insulted you. Similar situation here, this random person I don't know told us to make a game without asking nicely. He didn't even make an effort to say "hello, my name is blah blah blah" and introduce himself. I don't see a reason to be nice to this random person. Nor do I see a reason for anyone else to be nice.
And as to being nice before being a jerk:
Obviously you care way to much!
Our friend Match Stick doesn't exactly show signs of niceness towards EMC's friendly post EMC was merely trying to help him and tell him about certain rules as well as unspoken codes of conduct. In return he was given a "whatever, you care too much, you'll get over it. Shut up". Or at least something to that extent.
So with that, dearest Kat, I would like to tell you to shut up and think before posting some criticism concerning a member who really is one of the friendliest people (and a very helpful one at that) on these forums. Seriously.
koodles4you
12-20-2004, 03:48 PM
Fine, I see your point, and if what I said was that insulting I apologize. But really I don't see how what Match Sticks was that rude.
And as for being nice, I don't think Match Sticks was trying to be rude by saying 'I need you to make it.' I just took it like he meant, 'I can't make it, I need you to. ' Which is basically what he said. Granted a please should have been put in.
When I read what EMC wrote I really didn't think 'Wow that was helpful' I though 'That was harsh' there is a large difference between constructive criticism and flames. And maybe EMC was trying to give constructive criticism, and if he was I’m sorry for all the things I’ve said. But next time he does, try to make it sound more like help and less like a flame.
Kat...

First, thankyou Dark, that was really nice and I appreciate it.
Secondly, I'd like to restate the reason in which I sounded rude. There was this guy named Brett. I know, I know, no one wants the remember him, but it correlates to my point. Anyways, he was quite possibly one of the worst members we have ever had. Everyone was nice about things when he first joined, because he was making mistakes. But, since no one did anything to teach him not to do anything again, he did bad things. This is why I had to be somewhat rude and demanding to matchstick. Also, I'm sorry if it offended him, but that small amount of rudeness will save him alot of flaming in the future.

Wow, this has gone completely offtopic
A game like SRPG takes quite awhile to get right and making it to the exact specs of the classic one would be even harder unless they somehow got a hold of the source and edited it but I think many people could get angry with that unless that person had direct permision from Skye
Well anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that people probably wont spend their type replicating it just with a few minor changes

Of course not. I mean, school is obviously not the place one normally learns that. I'm sure they have books in Texas as well. As well as lots of fun games that teach typing (and through that spelling).
As long as it's legible, bad spelling isn't bad. As long as everyone can understand what someone said without reading it four times, it's all cool, really.

Match Stick, consider what your first message could've been interpreted as. I read it, and it sounded to me like this:
"Hey, I feel like playing Stick RPG but with a different theme to it. Someone make one for me right now, since I don't feel like contributing to it in any way. By the way, since it was my idea, I should get all the credit for it."
Half the people here probably don't even know what 'Amish' is. What do you mean by, "Get over my horrible spelling and grammar. None of that matters, since the fact still remains that you have to make this game for me, whether you like it or not."
Kinda anti-social, isn't it? What were you intending to do on the game, anyway? Animation? The only animation RPGs tend to have is walking and fighting. Drawing? Come on. They're stick figures. All you'd be doing is giving the hobo a pitchfork. Programming, the only really strenuous part? As if. Almost all programmers work solo, and I don't think you know a considerable amount of ActionScript anyway.
DarkReality
12-25-2004, 02:47 PM
Almost all programmers work solo, and I don't think you know a considerable amount of ActionScript anyway.
You have no idea how incredibly mistaken you are. Do you suppose Activision employs only one C++ programmer? Or google only has one programmer working on scripts? Any larger program is made by a group of programmers.
That's the beauty of this object oriented programming that became more and more popular over the last 5 years among companies, it's incredibly easy to split things into small modules so that you can easily place a programmer on each module and then put them together in the very end.
Sorry, but that last argument you made really bothered me :-)
Besides, we had this settled, to be honest, and everyone accepted their mistakes. And then you come along acting all great flaming him all over again? Stupid moron. Almost as stupid as he is. Read before saying what we did.

Can't you see he aready said all the credit would be yours? and don't you think that he's heard enough of 'no ones going to make that game for you.' he gets the point, he already said what you wanted ot hear so stop fighting a battle thats already been won.
