Do na' be a dink without reason, yeah? Sure, there are lots of people who respect skills and such, but respect for a person is based on relationships built through time and experience. If you think through your comments/opinions before stating them and try to do so in an inoffensive manner, you'll inevitably gain the respect of those around you. If people don't respect you, good for them. If they seem to have a vendetta, they can go to hell.

Fact is, respect is earned, not purchased nor given to you.

respect and disrespect are opposites, there is something in between that. NO respect. if no one respects you, it doesnt mean you are disrespected. you have to earn people respect, like everyone does.

Indeed. Respect is earned, not given.

Take a role model on XGen for posting. Learn the way the person posts, and try to come close to the quality of that person. Don't mimic it exactly, but you get the idea.

And get noticed out there too. If we're debating something, post and get noticed. Make your opinion, back it up and sound intelligent.

Reading that thread helps too.

respecting people does not mean you are respectable. you can "respect" people and still post like you just stabbed your cranium with a pen.

Telling people they are on your ignore list is flaming, obey the rules and you will earn a little respect.

Your grammar has alot of holes, fix them and you will earn even more respect. I made a few corrections, although, some of them I made can be fixed many other ways.

Don't act stupid, if you don't know what I am speaking of click the link mara gave you.

Post out of SL once in a while and you will gain even more respect.

yes. IF YOU ACT THIS WAY TO PEOPLE (flaming,ignoring them when they give you advice) THEN I PROMISE YOU THAT YOU WILL NOT GET RESPECT. my ignore
list is empty. I give people the will to express their opinion. which is the reason for these forums. practically is the reason for the internet. what would it feel like if you were on every single persons (on this forum) ignore list. to get respect you need to give respect, and earn it. like i said before.

That's the kind of thing that'll lose you respect. If you can take an insult, and turn it into a joke, or turn it around (cleverly), instead of shutting the person out, you will get more respect.

And besides that, he was giving useful advice, although it was a little unclear.

By the way i respect ALOT of people but they never respect me back.

Just giving respect alone does not earn you respect. You will gain respect over a long period of time after proving yourself as either a thoughtful member, or a fun member. And those aren't mutually exclusive.

What's my point? Make your name a little more known, and make it known in a favorable light. Getting respect will take time and effort into intelligent thought.
