I have found myself unable to sleep recently. Sometmes I stay rolling around in my bed until 7 AM and then fall asleep and then end up waking up at 2 PM. And with school around the corner, this is not good.

So, um, help?

Before going to bed, go like, 3 hours without any caffeine and candy. Try to go to bed a similar time you did last night. I know you're probably doing these, just have to make sure we're on the same page.

Stay up as late as you can, for as long as you can, then you will be sleepy! Worth a shot.

Not at all. He wants a normal sleeping patern. What you're advising is that antithesis of what he wants.

I have the same problem. To fix it for a couple days, go one night without sleeping at all, and then you will be tired for the next couple of nights. Plus, get more physical activity. And absoultly(sp?) no soda, candy, caffiene, anything stimulating.

Or get sleeping pills. It worked for me when I couldn't sleep till 2 in the morning.

Just sleep as you would for school. In my case it is 10PM until 6AM. Go lay in bed at you first time whether you sleep or not. Wake up and do stuff at your second time whether or not you are tired. Eventually your body will say "If I can't sleep now, I might as well sleep then..."

Drink a glass of milk before you go to bed and also have a bath or watch TV to relax yourself.

Stay cool, if you are too warm it will keep you from getting to sleep.
Open a window in your room and open your door to let the air circulate. Try puting a fan in your room too. If there is too much noise, try earplugs.

Avoid any sort of physical exercise during the five hours before you sleep, but do plenty beforehand.
Eat a banana half an hour before you go to bed, I dont know why. Also take a glass of milk.
Don't just sit rolling around. If you can't get to sleep then get up and do some boring repetitive chore i.e. ironing, or if you're too butch find something else. This will bore you and put your mind at ease without working up your body.
If you have anything on your mind go and write it all down, get it off your chest it will make you feel better about it and you can relax.
If you're feeling too warm throw off your blanket, its better than opening the window because if you get cold in the night you can just grab it over you in your sleep.
Try getting into a regular pattern of sleep i.e. go to bed at roughly the same time in the same place with the same music playing, if you have music playing, and any other things you might need to sleep.
If you try all that and still have trouble sleeping you may have a problem and you may require sleeping pills, but then again, I really am no expert on this issue.

1.Don't listen to them. You should NEVER eat ANYTHING right before you sleep. A small bit of water or milk is okay, but it really doesn't help you sleep at all.

2. Sleeping pills are your friend. Unfortunaly for me, I couldn't take them on a day to day basis. Why? I have no idea, but my doctor said no.

3. Do some weight lifting before you go to sleep. Not RIGHT before you go to sleep though. Weight lifting will make you a little more tired.

4. Have an early dinner.

5. Watch TV. And by watch TV I mean watch the absolute most boring channel in the world to numb your mind and bore you to the point where you will fall asleep. The Golf Channel and CNN work best in my opinion. The Weather Channel can be decent sometimes, but the music they play is just painful to the ears.

5. Listen to calming music.

I'll post some more things to do later.

But if you listen to music, play it on your clock radio. You do have a clock radio, right? Headphones can be uncomfortable and you could possibly knock your music player down.

You can't take sleeping pills on a daily basis because they #### you up, you're not supposed to take them on a daily basis unless you have some sort of disease because they're really bad for you.

Also, 5x2 FTW.

I draw and read books in bed to fall asleep. If I can't get to sleep because of that, I usually take either one fourth of a sleeping pill or half if I'm having a very hard time getting to sleep. When that doesn't work, I just sit in bed in the same position thinking about something. Then my mind wanders and eventually I get to sleep.

My dad always says that.

Anyway, try reading for at least an hour. That always works for me.

There are many kinds of sleeping pills that you can take on a daily basis without ****ing yourself up. You won't find them on the shelves, but a doctor can certainly perscribe them to you.

No, see, forcing youself to go to sleep by unnatural means wrecks havoc on your bio clock, among other parts of your brain and your central nervous system, taking them on a daily basis can be disasterous for your nerves, brain, muscles and several vital organs (Sleeping pillls and tranquillizers slow breathing, for instance, so if you have asthma, it's a double no-no).

I forgot to mention this, but expose yourself to as little light as possible in the hour or two before you intend to go to sleep i.e. If you watch TV, don't sit too close, reading with the room (Not a small bedside lamp, your cell phone or a tube o' lube) light on is bad, and so is being on the computer.

Majority of sleeping pills are narcotics. All sleeping pills can be addictive. They're far from natural.

Also, I find browsing things like wikipedia to be rather, soothing if you will. It's not boring, but it's far from stimulating. Just wikipedia something partially interesting (to stop you from browsing other sites, but not too interesting), and follow the links.

I know its been said before, but READ A BOOK (one that you're actually interested in... duh), or stare at nothing for ~10 minutes to get you thinking... and draw. always works for me.

Why did you say "duh"? That makes no sense. You have to read a book that is boring. If you read a book that you're interested in, then when you're finished with a chapter or a page or two, you'll want to read more and more. Then he'll just waste time reading. If you read a boring book, you'll start yawning more because... well... it's boring! Definition for boring according to answers.com: Uninteresting and tiresome; dull. Definition for interesting according to answers.com: Arousing or holding the attention; absorbing.

You should not read an interesting book if you want to fall asleep quickly.
