Forget it. Too many stubborn posts.

Pardon the expression, but that seems like preaching to the choir. I think that many of the members here figured there were contradicitons in the bible.

Not that it's not interesting. It is. Very....

I think your just trolling for arguments since this one has been done a hundred times on this board...

But why not add something??

Basicly, I know the church is shall we say good hearted, but I'm starting to not see the point in all this tradtion and sacrament stuff. I mean most of it was invented after Christ and has changed threw out history into something completely different than what it was ment for.

As for the bible...... well I'm pretty sure it was written hundreds of years after all of it took place and most can't be considered fact. Yes, I know its based in fact and some events did happen (i.e. crusifiction ect.) but most of the stories and parrables of Jesus were invented hundreds of years after his death. And the actuall true events have been distorted to fit the means and intetions of the chruch.

Now "The 101 Contradictions in the Bible" most are trivial and don't matter but some actually might have some relavence....... I didn't read too many.

I can guarantee you this will incite a flame war. Not directly, but be patient. It will happen.

...

I didn't mean to start some sort of "war", I just wanted to get you guys to think.

Seems like it's a harder task than I though.

It will only incite a flame war because people are incapable of accepting that their flawless book is flawed. However, contradictions suddenly become much less contradicting when you view the bible as a mixture of historical truth, metaphors and "fairy tales" meant to teach a moral/the word of god.

Jesus cursed a fig tree? What the...? Strange person, if you ask me. Why would anyone curse a plant? And a fig tree at that... not that there's anything special about it.

Jshall, what the heck was your point? You told him he's an idiot (indirectly) and agreed with him in the same post. Make up your mind before posting some pseudo-angry stuff.

Maybe, just maybe, the bible is a collection of stories of something that happened here and in a parallel universe. That would explain why there are contradictions... no? Oh well.

Why would anyone curse a plant

He was making a point to his disciples though they didn't get it

Well, that's one thing I have in common with them. I don't get it either :-D

If I remember it was to show what will happen to those who do not bear good fruit, or in other words don't try to get people to lead better lives and such

Complete BS.

The whole religion.

Exactly. Too many people take the Bible word for word.

The whole religion.

There is no whole religion. I don't know where you live, but there are many religions based on the bible

I think Sticky just wanted to get you angry, and not have an intelligent conversation. Just ignore. It's not even on topic. Sure, we're talking about religion, but we were discussing a specific aspect of it. To go back to discussing whether religion is valid is a different argument.

"whole religion" probably meant "the entire idea behind religion". Random guess, though. Essentially, Sticky has a point though, but trying to convince christians that they believe in something unreal is like trying to convince a fly that it has fins. It doesn't quite work. For a variety of reasons.

This is an arguement. It is it's own topic, you idiot. That's just like saying that the piece of ham you have isn't ham, so we should talk about salami instead.

Do you check your "logic" before you showcase it? Doesn't seem like it.

trying to convince

I wasn't really trying to convince, but so much as trying to "instigate". That's just my opinion.

*cries at being called an idiot*

HAM!

*looks for the ham*

Ham rhymes with spam. Which this post is. Pretty much. So for the sake of making this at least half-way relevant...

Ham in german is Schinken. >_>

Sure it's an argument. A different one.

And yes, I check my logic. What I said was to go back and discuss a general topic is irrelevant if we are already discussing a specific one.

Sorry for confusing you.

I think you may have confused yourself, my boy.

You clearly stated that this thread is not on topic, but it is, since we're talking about "Contradictions to the Bible". You're saying that I can't categorize religion, then make a topic about it. Why not? There may be another general religion topic, but this is obviously a bit more specific, and completely different, therefore on topic to itself. You also said "just ignore", but have failed to do so, since you're still arguing.

Your post wasn't thought out that well.

By the way, thanks for completely killing my topic, guys. (Minus Dark). Oh, and proper grammar might help.

This is a contradiction in the Bible?

...

It's related to it, because I think that due to so many contradictions to the bible, the religion as a whole is complete bs.

Just stop arguing with me, let the topic die.
