So yeah.. Today is Freshman Friday, where all the freshmen get beat up. Is there a good way to avoid all the upper classmen and their foolish, yet painful pranks?

Well we don't really beat up freshman, but other schools may. If I had to guess they probably messed with your mind about that. We all like a good laugh when some people know nothing about highschool. My best advice is just act yourself and don't let it bother you.

Will do. There's basically no fights here, so I am probably safe.
Not knowing about highschool is annoying.

Don't try too hard to avoid them, or they'll catch on and pick on you more. Then again, don't go putting youself in situations that you don't want to be in.
So what does that mean? Act as you normally would.
It's a joke, anyway... ahaha.
My high school was from 7th grade all the way up to the seniors. Oh gawd was it fun convincing all the little kids that their was a pool on top of our two-story highschool.

Who the hell would believe that? xD
I'm suprised how many gullible people people there are (I know, I'm a hypocrite).
Yesterday, I saw a kid buy an elevator pass. It looked completely fake, and the elevator is staff only, anyways. :p

Not good, I'm a freshman. But my school goes from 8-12 so I was the youngest last year, and I'm happy thats over.

Show that you are not afraid.
On Freshman Friday at my school, a group of 4-6 seniors came up to me. They asked me 'What shoe size are you?', in hopes that I would tell them and they would say 'Oh! That's my size. Let me try them on...'.
So, what I did when they asked me was simply say 'Not your size' and kept walking. They said nothing, did nothing, and just walked the opposite way. Give them a reasonable doubt and they can't touch you.

I have been unfortunate enough to have to start into highschool twice, in grade seven and in grade nine. (I moved).
The first time around, there was a bit of hazing, but it was nothing really bad. Just really anoying things- like alot of new kids had the habbit of leaving their locks unlocked, so older students would put an elastic in it then hide it in the kids locker. Other than that, it was basicly sports teams, and it was never anything really bad- like making the guy wear a tutu and walk through the school handing out muffins. The second time around, I went to a school that didn't do anything of the sorts. Too bad, muffins would of liven the place up.
Basicly, like everyone else said, keep a low profile. I'd say don't do anything that seems "easy" like leaving your lock unlocked.

Dom, most of us aren't little hummers, so getting snide (apparantly I can't say "rooster-y" -.-) doesn't always work. ._.
In the good ol' Elitist Empire, the worst that can happen is that you'll get, gasp, doodled on with a permanent marker (which, on skin, is not). Sure, one of my friend's got a penis that looked like a shoe, but it's not as if there's anything serious.
Generally, those events are specific times for the older grades to pick out the 'obvious targets'. They were, themselves, once such a target; so they know what to look for. Unless there aren't any obvious picks (and there always are), not making yourself an easy shot is the best way to go.

You simply have to give them no reason to pick on you. Act like you normally would. Go your normal routes. Stay where you are in public -- if you go backroads, you will be a much easier target. If they do pick on you in a public area, call a lot of attention to yourself. You're safer in areas where there are more people.

I don't know what kind of school you go to Gooch, but I doubt they have anything bad for freshman. This is most likely one of those things when people in highschool mess with a freshman's head about this kind of stuff.

There was a fight pretty much every week at my high school. The cops really got to know the campus real well. >.>
But after 4 years I've never heard of upper calssmen beaitng up freshmen just because they were freshmen. There was always something that provoked someone. Then pow. A large circle gathered, then the administrators, then the cops and sometimes an ambulance.
You should be fine.

Depends what school you go to. Alot of schools are just to mess with your head- others (mostly poorer schools) will have you sipping through a straw for a month. I know a quite a few people who went to a certain Toronto-Area school and every one of them says that its one of the worst schools for hazing and pranks ever. Trust me- in some places it is more than just a bluff.

I've seen kids walking out of bathrooms on freshman Friday, soaked from the shoulders up, followed by a group of laughing seniors. Funny as hell, but it does happen.

I am aware those schools exist. I said most likely a school where freshman's head would be messed with.
Whatever you do, dont act like your trying to aviod it. Like purposly trying to stay away. Act normal.

We don't have a "Freshman Friday." :(
'Cept on Senior's last day, all the seniors load up on water balloons, and hit underclassmen with them. I couldn't avoid them twice, although I was personally targeted.
So... how'd it go? I'd give advice, but seeing as Friday is almost over... (for me at least). Did the seniors get you? Did you plan a resistance? (I joined one for Senior's last day at my school; it failed after a few minutes. Thankfully, I had my getaway lined up, so I didn't get much punishment :).)

Hell, at lunch I even sit with a few juniors and seniors and I'm a freshman this year. Of course theres a group of them that will occasionally bully the younger kids but I haven't really ran into any problems thusfar with anyone.

Well, I didn't get #### freshman year. There were freshmen that were pricks to me, but nothing bad happened.
Might be into the fact that I look like I'm an upperclassman due to my facial hair, but whatever. Just don't act like a jackass, especially around the upperclassmen and you should be fine.
Its all a bunch of bull**** made up by the kids in highschool just to scare the newcomers....
