Please don't do this. You really apparently know nothing of the EU or the ST uni.

As for realism, ST wins, by far in the main medium (the series), whereas SW falls behind, again in the main medium (movies). At this point, ST isn't as realistic, as it's kind of just "fun to watch".

However, the SW movies allude to a far deeper universe, which is expanded on in the EU. The EU answers all the letters to the editor (if you will). Only rarely hiding behind, "Well, it's the Force. It can do anything."

An example of how it answers a lot of questions, is simply looking up Blasters in the SW DB. In which I quote...

A squeeze of a trigger emits volatile blaster gas into a conversion chamber, where it is excited by energy from the weapon's power source. The agitated gas is then funneled through the actuating blaster module, where it is processed into an intense particle beam

So, that's why blasters aren't instant. They aren't light.

And I'm sorry, what did you have wrong with the OT? Special effects? It came out 1977 (the OT ended in '83 I think, not positive).

The NT? Whiny Pre-Vader? I had nothing wrong with him at all. I found the transition and story telling far better than a lot of the EU crap that some authors pump out.

I've found Star Trek (Along with Stargate:SG-1) to be my preference when I want something with undertones and something that makes me have to think. Star Wars is a series I mostly watch just to see stuff happen. None of it is very deep (strictly the movies, I know there's a lot of stuff that makes SW deep) and you can almost turn your mind off and enjoy it.

I'll agree with you on that. Although, technically when the Apocalypse comes, I'll have to join the ranks of Max Rebo's Band, I also like Star Trek.

The Star Wars movies, are not the deepest. However, they do become quite a bit more meaningful and deeper if you have an understanding of the rest of the universe. A lot of the EU books are crap. A lot. However, there are a few series and such that are actually really good.

As for Startrek, you're right. It can be very deep, and pretty realistic. In Star Wars, Jedi's and Sith are flying around swinging their sabers. In Star Trek, negotiations and the like go on.

I actually can't stand Star Gate SG-1 though. Maybe I havn't given it a chance, but it seems like just horrible sci-fi.

It all depends. The beginning of the series was really good because it was set in the present day and the only thing we really had were existing technology, the stargate, and maybe a staff weapon. Other than that Earth was completely on it's own. People really liked the concept of human ingenuity winning out against the technologically superior Goa' Uld and the like. In the more recent seasons humans have been adapting all sorts of technology so now they have fully functional spaceworthy warships and even dogfighters.

That and they have McGyver so you can't go wrong XP

Broght up loving it. I always used to race home from school everyday to catch it on Sky One.

I'm watching Deep Space 9 right now. I've got to refresh myself before the Las Vegas convention in two weeks

I hate DS9. It's all about TNG.

I would like to vote for neither but I'm not going to, instead I'm going to Stars Wars and the only reason for this is because of the episodes 4, 5 and 6 which I find to be alot better than the later films, plus they have the better character(s) such as Luke, and generally I find them to be the better films in the series. As for Star Trek I'm not going to vote for that because I've never liked it. So overall the first or last three films in the Star Wars series has won my vote.

How do you compare a movie to a TV show?

Nonetheless, I like Star Wars (a lot) better.

I like DS9, I'm not really sure why.

But yes, TNG kicks butt, if my friend had the DVDs I'd be watching those. But he doesn't instead he bought all 8 seasons of SG-1.
