why do we even have homework? Every night im up late just so i can get good grades. if there were no homework, im sure that i would get strait a's. I usually get a's or b's on tests, even if i dont do my homework.

I could go on, but im to lazy. who else thinks that homework is a waste of time that could be spent doing something better and more usefull?

I don't believe anyone honestly enjoys doing homework, but the basic point of it is to show you responsibility for when you enter 'the real world'. In other words, you may get fired for not taking responsibility during your job - This is one of the reasons homework is in place. :)

Near the end of school, 11th and 12th grade, homework should be voluntary, as it's really only there to repeat what you learned. But, if you got it from the beginning then doing the homework obviously has no purpose. But until that point, homework should be required because chances are that a) you'll forget most of what you did in class and it'll haunt you later in school and/or b) the responsibility argument and of course being able to set priorities. And no matter how good you are, playing xbox is not a high priority :-D

for me homework is a waste of time.

I understand the material 90% of the time, so doing it at home just gets me bored. And if I dont do it(happens occasionaly) I get penalized. Thats y I got Cs in Algebra II. It wasnt the test grades, it was the homework.

Bolded part sums up why you hate homework. lol. Anyhow, I don't like homework either. (because I'm lazy) I usually don't do my homework at home. I do it during class the next day.

I like homework indirectly. I don't like doing it, but I like what it helps me learn. I could not do as well as I do if I didn't have homework.

Homework's good when it's thought provoking and interesting (ie. Derive the three modes of oscillation of a damped spring from mx''+cx'+kx=0) but when it's "Find the slope in questions 1-23 ,a-j" that's just stupid.

i'm sure most people who hate homework hate it because they know the material and think they are above it.
th best way to remember something in say three years is to drill. constantly drill. doing drills will lodge it into your skull.

if they made homework optional no one would do it. major assignments would take twice as long. do you WANT to fail those big projects eh?

I do not like homework, yet I do it. Because by doing my homework, I do not have to study as much (which is a LOT harder for me...)

I don't like homework. I've always thought, 'Why must teachers prolong the pain of school while you are supposed to be relaxing with your family?'. I would happily do projects at home, but why worksheets? I would rather do something constructive; I don't think homework is constructive at all. It's repetitive of whatever it is you did in class. It doesn't build upon it. I think if we didn't have homework, we may be less responsible, but in no way less inteligent.

Homework actually helps me alot in certain subjects like spanish. But in math and socials and such, it is a complete waste of time.

it depends what subject. For projects, its pretty cool because were allowed to make movies and stuff, so homework is running around making bad videos and having fun, which is definitely better then having to answer 20 trillion questions.

My worst night was about 3 weeks ago....

it was a thursday, the teachers were prepairing for a class trip to williamsburg...they gave us 14 assignments that were due the next day, including 3 papers, i was about to die, but then, we got lucky, and got an "ice" day, cause in NC if we get even a quarter inch of ice, they close schools, yay....
