Well one of y friends might be deciding to start using Flash, and as an introduction to Flash I decided on... Making an extremely complex video game! :-P
Think Sonic The Hedgehog #1, the format and physics will probabl be about the same.
Don't expect it any time soon, either... But it should be pretty cool.
And you thought animating a stick figure was hard! :)

You just draw the upper body and put a spinning swirl circle thingy for the legs, thats what sonic looks like.

exept if you press Y like a nuts...he will look like a blue eg of some kind with pretty shiny things that makes it looks like spining..

And in the newer games he has spikes sticking out when he spins...
Quality games he has, that Sonic.
Anywho, good luck on your project. It certainly will be hard, but at the very least you'll learn a lot of Flash. :D

Alright...
There will probably be NO sprites, it will be done all in flash.
The main character is Grego... At current, he is being planned to be a stick figure *gasp* that wears jeans, and a red shirt. There should be humor in this, as in with all the work it takes to make the clothes he could just as easily be a normal person... But he probably won't be.
His dog Fido was going to be our version of Tails, but I decided against it... Too much work.
Instead of the 7 chaos emeralds, its the seven chaos RUBIES! *laughter*
Instead of the 7 super emeralds (if we decide to use them), they will be the 7 super RUBIES! *subdued laughter*
When turning into super Grego, he will be in the air, a whole bunch of rings of light will burst into him, the background will be tinted dark blue,. After the transformation, the background will remain tinted and there will be a dark ring circling around him.
Instead of normal sonic rings, we will be using coins, probably.
We're (my friend and I) working on the plot currently, this is just a bit of our decisions.

The opening is ok, but why is he holding a spoon?
Yes, I realize it is his index finger, but it looks sorta like a spoon.

Nuh-uh. :D The master emerald is the one big one on the floating island.
The super emeralds are what you get in Sonic 3 and Knuckles after you collect all seven chaos emeralds. They let you become Super Tails, Hyper Sonic, and Hyper Knuckles.
The master emerald is in the center of the room with the super emeralds though.

Well, I uploaded a new version... The new version has:
a)The white lines in the water are coded instead of tweened.
b)The clouds are also now coded iinstead of tweening.
c) Took off the tacky island
d) Made the background look better.
e) It loops correctly now.

really. I haven't played either Sonic 3 or sonic and Knuckles.
See I thought there was only Chaos and Master.
...in Sonic Aventure(1 and 2), they only use the Choas emeralds to go super. There was no super in there.

Pity... Sonic 3 and Knuckles (that's what you get when you attach the Sonic 3 cart to the top of Sonic and Knuckles) is the best Sonic game if ya ask me...
Anyway,
I like Grego there. He looks happy. :)
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Well, some suggestions:
The island thing in the background is bland. Make it not so square, and not as many funky shaped rocks. Add some trees and what not.
Do something to get rid of those white lines, they look weird.
Ok, that's all I have basically.

It's because the character is centered on the registration point.
If you double-click the symbol you can move him up so his feet touch the little crosshairs.
Otherwise, you can make a little code adjustment of subtracting a few pixels from the calculation.

Okay, so I lied. I made the stupid demo level a bit nicer and you can morph into super grego by pressing control... Which also gives you better max speed and jump height. I'm also going to change the acceleration.
I'm working on ironing out the main bugs before moving on.

Boy, I have gotten a TON of pesky coding done... I'm trying to work out the jumping (turning into a ball so I have to do diff. hitTests) , I've got a few more stances done, and the morph to super grego is now MUCH more cooler... I can't wait to get the next version out! I've done so much to it, plus I'm finding I can actually understand lots of the code now.

Ahhh! I found the title screen hiding in the game. Killer.
That is a nice transforming effect. It'd be cooler if he looked different after it (spikey hair, probably).

Like I said (or maybe I didn't), I added a whole bunch of stuff to the transformation, and I also made him accelerate a lot faster when super. He also sparkles. But I haven't uploaded that version.
You will like it though.

Er... no. Not till I'm done with the first level and fix up the rest of the code.
That's pretty cool! You did a great job on the walking animation. I'm looking forward to seeing what comes out of this. Keep it up!
