Comcast Support was pretty nice to me, and they even boosted my internet speed.

That's awesome.

Well it's good that he caught the gay and will hopefully get justice. I don't think it's awesome the fact that the guy fell asleep at his house and such.

He said the comcast dude waited an hour on hold. Doesn't sound to me like it's the technician at fault for not sleeping last night.

You don't?

xD It doesn't get much more awesome than that.

Heh heh heh.
Anyway, I don't think it's the technician to blame, he fell asleep because the company was too cheap to hire some extra tech/customer support people, so he had to wait on hold for an hour.

As long as I'm not paying by how long this guy stays at my place, I wouldn't be too angry. I'd still wan't my stuff fixed, though.

We might be switching to Verizon. They just installed fiber-optic cables all over our neighborhood.

I would never stay with a company that put me through that. I'd probably spray that guy with the hose or something.
I can't wait to see what happens when Comcast gets a hold of this video.

I have Bellsouth High Speed Internet and Dish Network Satellite TV.

Comcast sounds too much like Charter for my liking.

Freaking insane prices, incompetent tech support, crappy service...

Ugh.

But my parents won't switch to DSL. or Satellite. So i'm stuck.

Cable's faster than DSL or sattilite, though, so I'm all right with a little incompetence.

Tru dat. Anyone know if Verizon's fiber-optics are gonna be faster or at least competitive with Comcast's cable?

It's fibre optic, mate. The speeds are at least 10x faster.

Justin, I've got a 3mbit down, 256k up line for my cable. I can get a 3mbit/384k line from SBC. For cheaper, even. No competition.

My DSL is pretty much as fast as cable, what speeds do you get?

Even though it's fibre-optic to your signal box, it's still regular old RJ11 from there to your modem. Until they replace the phone lines in your house with FiOp, it's not getting any faster.

10mbps is the max we can get down the line here, but we pay for 2mbps.

^24mbps in london.

I'm not sure what my cable line is rated at, but I get over 10 MB/s download speeds pretty routinely from decent servers

How about on Myspeed? I'm equal with n2 with my DSL.

Are you sure your B's are correct? MB and Mb is a huge difference. 8Mb is roughly equal to 1MB.

I didn't think cable could even go faster than 8Mbit.

They run Cat5e from the street to your house. That's a 100Mbit connection.

It clocks in at 11MbPS down, just under 1MBPS up.

SBC service I had though is extremely lousy -- It's almost invariably going down every one or two weeks.

That all depends on the quality of your phone lines. When we had dialup, we were getting 56k steadily, which is damned good. With AOL, even.
