Nobody knows their old music, which is way better. Was a little more "punky" and had great use of bass. There new music is a little to electric and to political.

I like their old songs, such as: only of you, my generation, don't leave me, green day, rest, I was there, lots of the dookie album, and many more old ones. But I hate their new music.

kthxbai You do realize that just by saying that Green Day sucks, you sound like you have no idea what your talking about and that you are just following what everyone else says.

I wrote the following in the last Green Day thread. It pretty much closed the thread because no one could find an arguement against it. See if you can top this.

I am personally a fan of Green Day, as you can tell from my avatar and my signature. Even if you do not like the band, you should respect them. although their music is simple to play, it is extremely catchy. I give credit to Billie Joe for this. he can play an enormous amount of difficult music, but he chose to play simple powerchords and other various simple yet catchy riffs. In fact, Green Day pretty much invented this style of music.

One thing i cannot stand is people who say "I hate Green Day because they are overplayed." This is not the band's fault, it is the radio stations that overplay the music that are to blame. And the only reason the radio stations play the music so much is that people love to listen to it.

American Idiot is one of the best selling rock albums in history and it is, in my opinion, genius. The goal of a radio station is to make as much money as it can, and they make their money by getting companies to pay for advertising. If the station plays popular music that gets alot of listeners, then the companies will want to advertise on those stations. Since Green Day ispopular they play it to get advertising. If it was terrible, as many of you seem to think, they would switch it out for something that more people listen to. yet, after 15 years and aboout 10 albums, they remain strong.

Another arguement i can't stand to hear is "Green Day is too mainstream now. I liked the old Green Day better." Dookie was main sream, and that is some very old Green Day. American Idiot is mainstream, and that is new. Green Day was always mainsteam, eventhough they didn't choose to be. The number of people listening to and enjoying their music made them mainstream.

Green Day is out there for two reasons, to make music and to make money. Thats what all bands are out ther to do. They chose to be musicians and that is their profession. Saying that Green Day are selouts is like saying that Beethoven an Motzart are selloutss, for making money doing things that they love. The second that you make even a penny doing something that you love to do, you are a sellout.

I am not trying to change any opinions here, I just want Green Day to be a little more respected.

I just bought dookie, and it blows American Idiot out of the water. Before i had only heard a few songs off of Dookie, like Welcome to Paradise and Basket Case, but listening to the album as a whole makes it so much better. American Idiot is definetly second, though.

If you play track 14, F.O.D., and let it keep playing after the song stops, theres a hidden track.
