I haven't tested this since the style changed but you used to have to either A)Attach it using the attachment option at the bottom of the post reply page. or B) Upload it and put the Url in your post using the [ img] tags.

And, I will gladly re-assure you that XTTX's explanation is correct. I'd just like to recommend imageshack (http://www.imageshack.us) as your hoster. Haven't tried out XTTX's recommendations, however, I'm sure they are surely reliable as well :)
