I keep landing on invisible ledges and damaging my hull. It really stinks.

Can you elaborate? Were you clearly away from Mar's soil, or were you going down a straight hole, and *thought* you encountered a bug for you hit the side of a ledge? This happens, and can be caused by the slightest mouse movements, or just by you not positioning your machine well enough.

Screenshots are a big help. :)

I will be falling down a 1 column thick shaft, and suddenly stop and get a lot of hull damage (like if I hit an invisible ledge.

On these invisible ledges, you can got into the rock, but it doesn't clear it away, it just makes you stuck.

Here was one of my old little bug report thingies, I've got screenies.

You shouldn't be actually stuck. This happens when you use the quantum teleporter (am I right?).

You're not the only one that had this happen to them. I did as well, but I didn't see it bug worthy, as it is easy to escape it. :)

Sure, you can embed yourself into solid martian soil... but why would you? It's only possible if you're trying to do it... so it shouldn't really mess up the game at all.

Dang that stinks, yeah I have a problem with that as well. I did not use the quantem teleporter and sometimes when I dig, I get stuck, or when I go down I get a huge load of damage. Well, it's a good thing that we caught that.

Unfortunately we've know about these two things for some time. The drifting is simply a fact of the engine and would require significant re-writing to correct.

The hitting of edges when falling for a 1 tile thick shaft is caused by very slight horizontal movement of the pod. If you position yourself directly against one wall to stop ALL horizontal momentum, then freefall, you hit nothing.

But I'll be going down a tunnell where there IS no ledge, and I hit it. It's not a bad bug, it's just really annoying.

I've never heard of this bug, or experianced it myself, my advice is to keep a couple extra nanites with you just incase (and mabey get a good hull).

jesus christ. this thread is like 2 years old. simply create a new thread instead of going all the way to the last page of the forum in search of topics which you find interesting. you're digging yourself a deeper grave if you continue to behave in the way only expected of a noob user.

That happens to me a lot when I use the Twin Shafts method; I blame my own bad aim for not staying away from the edges.

Don't bump old threads

I don't think people care about how old threads are. Besides, it's better than making a new thread, isn't it?

it's been stated in the unspoken rules that no user should bump into old topics (especially the ones on the last page of the forum) and it applies to every other forums.
however, if you think it's right to do so, keep posting here and lets see what a mod thinks.

You could probably avoid the bug if your shaft is at least 2 spaces wide and you dodge the walls.
