Well, I restarted my computer..and all of a sudden, I had no drive.

Like, in My Computer I only see the C drive and the A drive...my disc drive is gone.

How can I fix this =/ (I don't wanna format again)

crack the case and check your power and ATA cables to it.

Wiggle them and make sure they're securely secured.

gah, grounding is for ph00ls

*opens up his desktop/server machine*

*unscrews the hard drive*

*looks at it, and walks around on his shag carpet in socks*

ZAP!

you didn't see that...

*sneaks off into the distance*

Seriously, though, just touch the case cover before you do anything and you'll be fine.

Format. ;)

...

Or go to Add/Remove Hardware(or something like that) in your control panel and look for your CD Drive. Might work.

Could just be a bad drive. Generally Windows doesn't have problems with CD-Roms. Have you installed any programs lately? Like for burning CDs? Cause I know several programs arent compliant with XP and will cause the drive to not be picked up. And NoClue, don't you mean check the IDE cables?

I would say that you're a complete moron and don't know what you're talking about. Don't format anything, Doh. Take it to the people who know what they're talking about...

Gah, same thing... I'm used to hard drives... ATA 133 cables... which are exactly the same... they're the same thing, different names...
