View Full Version : Goodbye, XGen

As I told a couple of you on MSN last night, I hurt my leg earlier that day playing basketball.

Well, I went to the doctor's today.

Long story short, I can never play competitive basketball again.

My future has suddenly taken a big turn, and it is very bleak-looking. I have a lot of thinking and a lot of wondering to do, and I probably won't even touch a computer for a long time outside of work.

I'm angry. Very angry. Not at anyone, but at fate, and I think that makes it harder.

I've got a lot to sort through.

So, in saying goodbye, I'd also like to say:

There are two of you that I love with all my heart, and I think you know who you are.

Some of you, I would trust with my life. Others are some of the best friends I've ever known.

I'd like to thank all of you. I'm a young man and my body has already given out on me. I'll need a cane by the age of 25. This future doesn't placate me, doesn't excite me, and it is devoid of my life's work: Basketball.

Farewell. I hope you all remember to laugh. As my friend Ernie says, "If you don't laugh at least 100 times a day, you're bound to end up killing something."

Welp, that's it for me.

Lyt.

I love you. I know that you have the fortitude of spirit to get through this. You've helped me through hard times in the past, and I've glimpsed the fact that you are truly beautiful. You are strong, loyal, steadfast and true. You are high in the ranks of the best friends and greatest people that I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.

As bleak as your future may seem, I know you're going to be alright. You don't need basketball to make you amazing. It's who you are. No one can take that away from you.

I'll miss you, but I understand that you need to spend some time thinking things through. I'll always be here if you need anything. You know where to find me, bud.

Man... I honestly don't know what to say. I wish I'd known you better while you were here... I know your name from back when I first signed up. My first memories of your post are at the same time as my first memories of Mor, and I know I'll always remember both of you. I've never been good at this, so I'll modify a quote to fit the occasion... more than half of us know you half as well as we should like, and less than half of us like you half as well as you deserve. As Ripht said... you truly are an amazing person.

If any of you have seen A Chorus Line, you'll understand why I chose this...

[align=center:3af3c03fd8]Kiss today goodbye,
The sweetness and the sorrow.
Wish me luck, the same to you.
But I can't regret
What I did for love, what I did for love.
Look my eyes are dry.
The gift was ours to borrow.
It's as if we always knew,
And I won't forget what I did for love,
What I did for love.

Gone,
Love is never gone.
As we travel on,
Love's what we'll remember.
Kiss today goodbye,
And point me t'ward tomorrow.
We did what we had to do.
Won't forget, can't regret
What I did for
Love

What I did for
Love

What I did for...

Love
Love is never gone
As we travel on
Love's what we'll remember
Kiss today goodbye.

And point me t'ward tomorrow.

Point me t'ward tomorrow
We did what we had to do.
Won't forget, can't regret
What I did for love.
What I did for love.

What I did for love

Love...[/align:3af3c03fd8]

This is one of my personal nightmares, suddenly being unable to do what I love, and I hate that anyone, especially someone that I like and respect, should have to go through such a nightmare made real. Goddess bless, my freind.

Text alone can't sum up my feelings. You are a great friend, and as it has already been said, you dont need basketball to be great. You dont need that 2004 Vert Autococker to be great. You are great, and you can't lose sight of that in life.
Your future is only as bleak as you let it be.

You are a great friend, and I also respect that you need some time to think things through. If you want to talk, you know where to IM ;)

Man... I wish I had been able to reply to this earlier, anything I say'll come out cheesy compaired to what has been already said.

All I say is that you're a great poster, a great roleplayer, and and awsome friend. We may have not talked a lot, but just looking over this topic I can see that you were a great person. XGen will miss you, bud.

Take it easy man, take life easy no matter how hard it is.

Well, I didn't really know you, but anyone can see.. (Well, since your grammer skills probably don't have any relation to your basketball skills, we can't see), that you're a great guy.

Just be glad you don't have it as bad as Stephen Hawking.

And since, you're probably going to not read this, I don't have anything else to say.

Except... and pardon my asking this...
Was getting injured last night what caused this, or was it just an accident waiting to happen?

Goddang, why did that person email me about "SOMETHING YOU HAVE TO SEE" and it turned out to be so sad? I wish I didn't know this....

I don't know what to say man. I feel desperately awful for you...I can only say, you're hitting challenges no person should ever have to face. But what's happened has happened, and you have to move on. What doesn't kill you does make you stronger. Don't let it hamper you from living a happy and successful life. You've got 70-80 years ahead of you, and I'm sure you are talented enough to more than compensate for the injury.

Well Tehman you have always been a great friend to me. You have always been nice to me. I do not know exactly what happened, but knowing you, I know that this will not stop you.

Nothing to say, but that you're an awesome person, a great friend, and an intelligent poster.

Fate sucks, sometimes.

Wow... this is weird... let me explain.

Noclue2 just contacted me. Let me update/explain some things.

Alright, Tehman/Namhet/Whatever used to live down the hall in my apartment building. He got injured pretty badly (like, career ending). He got real down on the world, and moved to Boston.

Before he went, he gave away a lot of his stuff... His paintball gun (which is now mine). Also, he gave me his email account (which is how this all started, somebody contacted me asking me if I was him).

Well, he got injured and depressed. He said he wanted to get away and moved to the East Coast. I haven't talked to him much since, but I'll see what I can do (I'm going to call him).

Sorry to cause a disturbance... I'll try to get this matter settled...

You're not causing a disturbance... I was rather shocked to find that he moved... Although this is just the Internet, many of us were rather worried about him.

Well, I'm sorry Namhet. Even though this is a little late, I just want to say that you are a great person.

If I ever lost my ability to play bass, I don't know what I'd do.

Well, I hope you have fun in Boston. It's a good town. My cousin used to live there. The only problem is that Kerry is the senator there, and he does squat.

Best of luck with your life.

And NoSubstance, good luck on your mission.

Wow... I never thought Xgen had such emotional players... But anaways that sucks to get a broken leg.

ndis4us
09-21-2004, 08:57 PM
Im thinking a little more serious then just broken.. broken leg is nowhere near career ending. Think more along the lines of getting it amputated. Thats the only thing I can think of. But never knew him so dont miss him. Sounds like a good guy. NoDubstance. Do your mission well. Convince him to come back.

If something happened to the knee when it broke, it very well could have ended his career. And depending on his timing, it could cause great damage.

If I ever lost my ability to play bass, I don't know what I'd do

I don't want to know what I'd do without fingers. Although recently I saw someone play guitar with his toes rather well. As in "kick butt well".

And I believe his problem may have been with his knee. I played tennis til I started having knee problems and quit before it got worse. I'm guessing either he broke his knee, or he would if he continued to play competitive basketball.

Mac

I think that would have to be a knee or an ankle injury to be career ending. Although he may have broken a large bone like a tibia [?] severley.

and if i wanted to say I i would have typed that.

and if i wanted to say '...would have said so.' with a period i would have typed that.

and if i wanted to say "...would have said so." (in " not 's) i would have typed that.

just to save u the time
