Cloning? What do you think?

This is just something that as been bugging me for awhile! I know alot of you are to young to really understand cloning (then again most of the people here are awsomely smart). Anyways to the point. What do you think about cloning? Do think that by making it Illege to clone im the U.S as set mankind back a few years? Or do you think that cloning a person is a bad idea? I just want to know what you all think. Thanks!

im not for full cloning of people because society isnt ready yet, plus do u really want 5 cthulhu running around. but i think we should clone organs because being able to do this will save count less numbers of lives.

Agreed. But the cloning of people would be a future step. I mean if you could come the best people in the world and throw them in a room and tell them to make something they would make it. Then again if you can clone the best people you can also clone the worst of people.

Cloning a person wouldn't be all that big a deal; genetics isn't the sole factor in personality, yknow. Even in Star Wars they had to use something they called "flash-imprininting" to get a clone to have the same memories, skills, and personality.

Well, theoretically, you aren't making an exact clone when you clone someone as the cells that you clone someone from are older. So technically, you are still an individual, but only technically. However, your indivuality is being taken because the clone looks, talks, walks, etc. similiarly to you. Everything you do would most likely be the same if your clone did it. So... Yes, individuality is being taken to some extent. I would want a clone to do everything I hate, but I don't want to have two of me running around and me losing my individuality, however, I could increase productivity exponentially which is a good thing. Especially for my RP site which is to be completed.

If we can save someones life, by say cloning people and harvesting there heart, isnt that worth it. Cause like people with religion say, "But clones wont have a soul." You give very good points, but I think they're speaking theologically. They're speaking from the heart, so to speak. They speak with their beliefs.

Playing God is doing what god does. Making creatures. So techincally, in a theological way,(sounds weird I know) we are playing god. In another way you can look at it, we're playing god by making miracles. Replacing bad hearts and lungs. It's a very dubious topic to debate about... So I think I'll give my brain a rest for now.

Individuality isn't just what we wear, drive, eat, etc. It's how we look, how we see things, how we do things. A person who copies you doesn't see the world in your way. He doesnt' have the same parents(unless he's your brother or sister). He doesn't have the same experiences and values you have. You may have similiar morals, but it's almost always never teh same. There's always a little difference here and there.
