It seems that recently, my math teacher has stopped teaching us math.. she puts a problem up on the board expecting us to do it. Meanwhile, us kids have no clue whatsoever how to complete the problem. Meanwhile again, she's Emailing people on her computer. Twenty minutes later, class is almost over, and she answers our questions in the last minutes, assigns homework along with that problem that most of us still have no clue how to do. Gah!

My Alg II teacher puts problems up on the board, does them while mumbling under his breath, then assigns three pages of homework. AND his name is Mr. Goat. lol

My math teacher puts the notes up on the board, puts a solved problem up on the board to show how and then he sits down at his desk.He doesnt do anything the rest of the period. Hes diabetic and once he passed out in the middle of class. We all give him chocolate and suger now, just for kiks.

Living in CT, problems with teachers is definitely not a problem, as it is home of the best education you can receive. That is a fact, though if you ask some of those kind of teachers they'd refuse to answer. :)

i think what you're referring to here is a scary thing called "independent learning". It's being implemented in my school at the moment, and pretty much everyone hates it, apart from the headteacher. We pupils don't understand the work for love or money, and the teachers constantly waste time having to answer questions from us, which wouldn't happen if rthey taught us. hopefully the governing body will realise this soon and make the necessary changes.. :?

This also is happening at my school. These are what you call "bad teachers". I only have this with one of my teachers, my geography teacher. We walk into the classroom, he starts writing on the board(he hasn't told us to copy it or anything), we all assume we have to copy it down, so we do. Then he tells us to read the book and do some questions, he doesn't even specify what pages to read or what questions to do. Then the next day he yells at us for not doing our homework even know we had no clue what to do.

I had horrible teachers up until the middle of fifth grade. Then I started homeschooling. Now I'm a sophomore in college. It's much better here.

I'm sure there's got to be someone who's a teacher or professor who is a member of Xgen, so I'll refrain from saying how lazy teachers are getting these days, and how they just can't expect us to teach ourselves. I wouldn't want to hurt their feelings....

Hey TwoToGo, same thing with me(fifth and a half grade then i was homeschoole), except I'm not in college yet, It's been 3 and a half years since and I think homeschooling is so much better
This is why I'm in favor of the legislation that pays teachers for how well they teach.

But then who decides who is a good teacher?

I have cool techers, except for my English teacher...she's a psycho.
But then who decides who is a good teacher?
I'm sure they would have people whose jobs are to randomly enter a classroom and observe the teachers at work, and maybe they could have the students fill out class evaluations. In University we have to fill out course evaluations at the end of the semester, and we rate the class and the professor.
I'm sure they've thought of other ways too.
