I think you mean the pythagoreum theorem. and i love it. it has helped me alot in Alg II

Actually it's the pythagorus theorem, and it is wonderful. But it's just a special case of the cosine law, which is C^2=A^2+B^2-2ABcos(c). Not that you really needed to know that...

...and the reason it works is because the cosine of C on a right triangle is equal to 0, right?
C²=A²+B²-2ABcos(C)
For right triangles, C=90, so cos(90)=0, so 2AB*0=0 which cancels it to C²=A²+B², right? (I haven't learned this in school yet, my brother was trying to teach me)
