Person B: Duh.
Person A: So a n00b is a rule breaker?
Person B: Last time I checked.
Person A: People tell other people to not break rules?
Person B: Yep.
Person A: So that means People call people rule breakers?
Person B: Correct.
Person A: So those people are basically calling them n00bs?
Person B: Obviously
Person A: HOWEVER
Person A: If you call someone n00b and another person calls them a rule
breaker you get banned for flaming, however, the other person doesn't even
get a fine.
Person B: And your question is?
Person A: Why is that
Person B: I have no idea
Yay for logic
So why can't I call people n00bs?

They don't notice if you call them something other than n00b. They feel less offended when really it is just covered up.

ok heres what a think, you can call them a "n00b" if you
a. have 600% more posts than them
b. were here last time xcash was around and they wern't
c. they have taken a tutorial you have written and they didnt understand it
eg. Photoshop n00b
d. they only post in Spammerland
e. they joined this month and you joined 3 months ago at least.

That doesn't make me a noob. If someone has 600 posts which are all spam, in l337 and obscene and vulgar... but I have 10 posts which are all helpful and grammatically correct... am i a 'n00b' to him?
That's just my opinion though.

It's called generalizing.
People who generelize alot are called bigots.
100% of Flash Master's posts in this thread are generelizing, thus, it is 100% correct that Flash Master is a bigot.

there's a huge difference between n00b and newb. newbs are inexperienced users who have just signed up recently and are not familar with the system. n00bs are those with a dirty mind and enjoy pissing people off with tons of spams. or is it?

The problem with that logic is this: Everyone has a different interpretaion of "n00b". One guy may think that it's a person who breaks the rules, but the next guy may take it as a big insult meaning who-knows-what. There's no set meaning. To avoid all this, Xgen made it against the rules to call someone that.

n00bs can't use grammar properly, and speal "leik dis. if u r a nub, plz lrn englsh".
If you understood that as fluently as possible, you're either a n00b, or someone who knows AIMspeak.

Allow me to bring this debate to a devestating bone-shattering conclusion. It's really quite simple, but I'll break it down for you all.
Anything that might — under even the most minute, unlikely or even impossible circumstances — offend someone or upset them in the smallest way should be destroyed without any hesitation. You see, that sort of thing upsets what is known as the status quo, and upsetting the status quo is unthinkable.
Plus, if people were to do that sort of thing, the forums might become less god-awful boring. #### that. Mediocre is God. Don't say anything unless someone on TV said it first. Originality is the Devil.
-_- God help me, I actually miss Bubba. I know, folks, I know. Ancient vicious rivalry and all that. But at least he kept things interesting around here.

Not you, Vagrant. :) Nor Marie nor Sam.
Actually, I'm far more pissed at the admins than I am at the mods.
They're trying to blindly get as many people to follow them as possible rather than having an ounce of integrity and providing an interesting forum of which to be a part.
I vote that they don't get to make the rules anymore considering that they are no longer by any form of judgement even a part of this community anymore.

Forum Noob- A person whom types like this 'liek 0mg wtf!!!1!!!11", a person who talks like they are on AIM using abbrivations including abbriviations that make you go what the heck does that mean?, a person who uses bad grammar and spelling, a person who is just outright spamming and annoying, A person who has no idea how a forum operates and shows no intention to learn.

Evacuate the city! Rant imminent! RUN AWAY!
So I never understood why people got so damn uptight over the word "retard". It means slow. The people described by it? They're slow. GASP!
Ignoring the word is like pretending that the mentally handicapped don't exist. Impractical. It doesn't help them. It helps the pansies that can't deal with things like that existing. It helps said pansies ignore that life is happening around them.
Go cry somewhere else. Life hurts. Poop happens. Either love it despite its flaws, or be miserable. Either way, quit blubbering about people using a word to accurately describe a condition. I don't care if your third cousin twice-removed is handicapped. I don't care if you're particularly sensitive to the word. It's your problem and no one else's. Grow up... Frigging babies.

Dude, Ripht, thank God you're around these forums.... never leave mate...
Anywho, everything Ripht said is accurate, he indeed did sum up everything everyone said plus added some bits of his own.
And, to generalise in an even simpler way than what he has in these posts of his, here comes a small definition between a newb and a noob;
newb - A newcomer, someone who is eager to learn, to improve his/her language and blend in with the society/community.
noob - A newcomer, someone with a minimum understanding of the English language, and also someone who is eager to learn new ways of irritating people beyong belief, making them get angry to the point where they (the victim) feels like throwing his/her computer through the window.

Ripht is right. We do need more excitement on the forums. Xgen is now just a gaming forum now, not the place to fool around. In my first 50 posts, I flamed enough to be Perma-banned today, but it was normal back then. It wasn't offensive. They did have a reason to ban bodadeM, because he posted that racial segregation thread. But in September, a guy named Brian Peppers was here *grin*, and they had absolutely no reason to ban him. He was making the whole forums funny, especially from his sig. Absolutely no one was offended by him, except for Kerry, who is always ban hungry.

It's not that people get banned for a reason, they get banned for being funny, in maybe, that's what some Mods will say, a disrespectful way. He probably wasn't that creepy or did silly things as much as to getting banned, but Kerry's hand twitch to every opportunity of using the Ban Sharpie. I used to know her, but a lot has changed, just like someone once said "If someone says power/popularity hasn't changed them, It's because they didn't get enough", and I have to admit, maybe I'm not that popular amongst XGen, hell, maybe I'm not even popular at all, but I've changed since I got here, to better or to worse?
