Okay, I have an idea, and the resources for a simple game sitting on my computer, and realized, this game sucks, unless I make it online, multiplayer....

What I want to know, is how you would do that, Would it be a combination of PHP and flash? or... Well, whatever it is, anyway I can get my hands on this code?

Flash isn't great for online multiplayer, but there are ways to do it. You would need a socket-server. This could be written in PHP, but would be best suited to Java or a similar language. Your host will have to be able and willing to support persistent programs (ones that don't end after a single runthrough). You can purchase a licence to use programs like Electroserver (http://www.electrotank.com/electroserver/), which are specially designed for multiplayer Flash games. Electroserver has a ton of extra features too. For unlimited users, it's $3000.
Or you can try to write one yourself. http://www.google.com/search?q=creating+a+socket+server

So I have it continously send and retrieve the data where the players are, right? Sounds easy enough... I have a few friends skilled with Java and PHP I will try getting their help, thanks

All that i can say is that flash MMORPG's are a bad choise. (most of time) Java works much better.

Not an MMORPG, its a shooter, you drive around a tank and shoot eachother, etc... Driving around, shooting, etc... No where NEAR as complex as an RPG

Why don't you make it an offline multiplayer first, and then see how good it is, and whether your friends like or dislike it. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but don't go through the trouble if people won't play it.

an idea is one thing, but making the game is another, you should complete the game and see how it is as a flash game, before you take it online, just an idea though

I realize that, but the main reason I am wanting to do this online isnt for the fun of the game, but to see how its done, sure, I am hoping the game is as fun as I imagine it, since its 2 fun things combined into one, but I do mainly want to to learn how its done... I am best at learning by doing, not reading... So I just wanna see how it works and stuff :D

There are good multiplayer Flash games out there. As represented by Stick Arena and Urban Squall's Battalion.
