Ok I know u all love this new console but tell me is it really worth it.
Ive been hearing around 2 hours of play the hardrive melts.
Ive also heard it scratches dvds
I even heard while during gameplay it erases games as well

So is Xbox 360 really that worth it even if there is no warranty. Thats right there is no warranty on Xbox 360 with problems like these they are really wanting ur money without thinking of the costumer.

ALL HAIL THE AFTERBURNER DARK ZOMA
" Ive been hearing around 2 hours of play the hardrive melts."

You've been hearing cases of Der DER DER it's always some loser that stuff a blanky or some other clogging device next to his 360. Gamers know what VENTING means plus. The hard drive melting what super heating temperature would that be. All it really does is cause graphical anamolies and slow performance. Bottom line if you're a 12 o'clock flasher don't buy anything with an electric current in it.

Enough venting

WaterZoma

well I heard something melts and I dont think venting is much a problem since gamers want to sit on a couch or chair with a view so they put the console on the ground where it gets appropiate venting

People are making up bad rumors about the XBox 360 because they are PS3 fans and they're hating on the 360. Just take good care of it and it should be fine. And where I live there is a warranty if you pay $20 or something like that.

The PSU overheats and freezes the XBox, unless you suspend it on an open box.

X = Xbox360

Ok lets see mikey mike.

X=Overpriced-It's the cheapest new system. Overated-I'll get back with you on that.Melting-I've played it for hours at walmart and it hasnt melted.Crashing-Smae as before.Erasing-I can't comment, figuring I don't own one.Fragile-True.Easily Broken-Same thing as fragile.

Alrighty then now you say it's overrated. I don't think you have played it. I have played that army game for hours, it is incredible. The graphics are amzing, the feel is a amazing, the free Xboxlive is awesome, and I hear the other games are pretty good on it too. And aslo Xbox360 has halo3. And to rap things up it's cheap conmpared to the other new systems. I'ts 400 dollars, Ps3 is going from 470-600, and revoulution is going to run for 400 I think.

p.s. I know revoulution costs just as much but honestly, do you even give a #### about the nintendo revoulution?

Out of one system. Wow, hey it's also the most expensive.
No prices have been announced for the PS3 or Revolution.

Those of us who's first console wasn't an Xbox do. You people are boring with your emphasis on your stupid graphics and media functions. Gameplay is the heart of a game console, and Nintendo Revolution offers a whole new world of gameplay.

To all those who don't belive they overheat and freeze, just check slashdot. It's proven that the PSU is faulty (at least some of them) and can overheat to the point of being dangerous.

Not that the PSU isn't dangerous anyway. Have you seen the size of the friggen thing? No wonder the 360's so slim and nice. It's only half a system! =P

And between me and my brothers we have had every single system besides Xbox360, PSP, and Dreamcast. And please tell me what this "whole new world" is?

I was in love with the XBox. Why? Because out of its generation of consoles, it was by far the most adroit and well-built system of its generation. Rather than continue in this short-lived tradition, Microsoft has decided to take Sony's route and build the cheapest least-inventive system possible.

I'll be buying the Nintendo system as always this generation, but I won't be buying either a PS3 or an XBox 360. This will leave me out of the loop on much of the gaming culture for the next couple years, but it's more than worth it. I refuse to support the creation of shoddy systems just so I can have a few more games to play. If they want me to buy their system, then they're going to have to build one worth buying.

Is it wrong to say I buy Sony consales because their games? I don't plan to EVER get a consale made by Nintendo due to their games. They're all very samey. The same old rubbish repeated. I am sick to death of the ammount of Mario games and all the other "cute" charecters and all the other ones that come from comics.

Sony, on the other hand, has a wide range of different games on their consales. From childish anime graphics RPG to real looking action adult games plus everything in between. Nintendo on the other hand consatrates on childish looking games, always failing to change their tatics. Believe it or not, I play for the gameplay. Thats how I can enjoy games such as Rune Viking Warlord (for the playsation 2). Sure, it doesn't have fancy graphics but the gameplay, wow. Extremely under-rated.

Nintendo's gameplay is very samey to me. Always focusing on cartoon graphics and always trying to get the rest of the crowd by showing off the rest of the gameplay thats left. There is a reason why Nintendo brought Capcom. To get more Gamecube buyers.

Alot of people (like me) in England don't like the cartoony graphics and the samey gameplay the GameCube offers so they decided to buy Capcom over so they can create games for their consale. Which would in time equel in more sales in the GameCube and more importantly, more profits for Nintendo.

Sadly, from the looks of things, it hasn't worked. Capcom hasn't gotten the profits which they wanted so they've released Resident Evil 4 (the game that was orignaly only going to be sold on GameCube on the playstation 2. Which I will be more than happy to buy.

The problem with the GameCube is, all the games which are any good are on the X-box and/or the Playstation 2. The rest, well, are rubbish.

If you want to waste money on a consale which produces the same old charecters again and again and again. Creating a very non-different storyline and game play. Be my guest. Just don't come crying when you relise to yourself it's a horrible consale.

Have a nice day.

Riot: Mate, your understanding of the industry appears to be quite lacking.

You keep talking about Sony as if they are the ones making these games rather than just the platform upon which they have been concentrated. I hate to break it to you, but they aren't.

For example, this "Rune Viking Warlord" that you commented on was not in any way created by Sony. It was developed by Take 2. It was made for the PS2 system because the PS2 system is the most purchased system in the US. The most popular system will almost always have the largest selection of games because third-party developers are driven by sales.

Take 2 would have made this game regardless of whether or not a Sony system existed. If the Playstation 2 hadn't existed when this game was created, it simply would have been placed on a different platform.

Buying a console for its current game selection is a foolish way to decide what console to purchase. It serves short-term goals, but at the expense of positive long term goals in the industry.

In order to truly make the industry a great place to work and play, we need to shut out companies like Sony that cater only to the whims of instant gratification and start showing a little more loyalty to the company that created nearly every technological and gameplay breakthrough in the history of video games: Nintendo.

If people had supported the well-built Gamecube over the poorly made PS2, we'd still have the exact same selection of games in the world. They'd just be for a good system instead of the PS2.

So... In short... Yes. It's generally a bad idea to base your console purchasing decisions on something as constantly altering and greed-based as popularity.

Riot: Mate

Wow, I never knew I was your mate. Brings a tear to my eye. :').

But I still buy consales based on games not for the accessories. Buying a consale for it's accessories is like buying a car because you can buy good rims for it. Not worth it at all.

thats why i didnt buy the xbox or ps2 first and bought the gamecube first,.......because SUPER SMASH BROS MELEE ROCKS!!!top 5 best gamecube games ever, it was so well made. last me plenty of hrs or single player and multiplayer fun. Zelda is also a top 5 game. and metroid prime 2 is also top 5.

xbox didnt really have good game selection for my tastes so i neveer bought it. i eventually bought the ps2 and i am glad that i did. the ratchet and clank series is one of my top 5 favorite series.

as each month passes i wonder how the nintendo revolution will be like. i am most curious on how it will play games like super smash or zelda or mario games.i probably wont buy the xbox 360 because yet again,...i dont care about it. thats only a system for older people or serious gamers.I probably will buy the ps3 and if the revolution is good, ill buy that

I got a gamecube because they had enough good exclusive (read: first party) games to make the system worth getting.

I got a PS2 because some dumbass kid offered me his "busted" PS2 and a controller (and he had the second disk of FFVII in the drive) for one of my many Genesis's and a controller. (I have like three now).

A quick looksee of the PS2 error proved to be covered in their policy of returning defected ones... WHich I did for 8 bucks shipping.

My brother had one before that, but this PS2 was mine.

I would have eventually bought a PS2 (probably after the PS3 came out) only for DDR and a few other select games.

I dont have an XBox, but I should, for the 10 or so games I need to get (and *gasp* Halo 2's not on the list!)

Long story short, if a system has about double its value in games I want that are exclusive for that system, I will get it. Eventually.

Agreed.

I went for the Gamecube first off, but after enough great games came out for the PS2 (read: Metal Gear), I bought one. I have to say that as a system, the PS2 is quite weak compared to the Gamecube. But enough games came out to make me want one.

I'm waiting for the PS3 to come out more. I will buy the nintendo revolution when it comes out, because I'll have a job by then. I just hope that nintendo focuses more on the console then this ground-breaking controller that lets you touch yourself and play at the same time :P.

Okay, got an announcement on a PS3 site stating the release prices for the Xbox360.

A forum with some guy spamming using the "PS3 price" keyword to improve his site rank.

Nothing.

Care to show me this information that you've come across? I'm quite curious to know.
And please tell me what this "whole new world" is?
The controller. Think about the awesome kinds of games you'll be able to play - swordfighting where you can actually swing your sword and parry, shooters where you can aim and look by pointing at the screen... It's new and different from any kind of game I've played before, which makes it highly interesting to me.

And as for the controler, I can't blame you there, it looks tight as hell.

Some Revolution potentials:
-Throwing a pass in a football game, using the trigger to release the ball and watch it spiral all the way to the receiver
-Picking locks in stealth-action games
-Two controllers, two words: Spiderman's webshooters
-Tetris, anyone?
-Whack-a-mole

Anyone else have any fun ideas?

£700.
What could you do with that?

Get an XB360 (top of the range)
Get a decent PC setup
Get a BFG 512MB GeForce 7800 PCI-E 1750mHZ ram speed, 580mHZ clock speed, AND have spare money to get games.
Buy a ####load of SNES's and NES's off of Ebay.
Get a kickass processor, MoBo, and other parts.
#5 would appeal to me more.
Then #3. But I don't have a PCI-E MoBo.
Then #2.
Then #4.
Then #1.

Neither did Halo 2 which is a GREAT GAME

it's because the "new" audience the casual gamer

The casual gamer sometimes includes the "What's the ANY key" or the "I ripped the prongs from my monitor cable because it did't fit now it doesn't work at all FIX IT" dumbass

You must know what you buy it's going to be not completly user friendly and BTW it took until recently to fix a powercord issue that occurs about 1 time in 1 million on the Original Xbox. What I think it is is the rich people who waited for it and aren't the HARDCORE gamers Microsoft was hoping woulkd get the first ones. Gamers can understand...Rich people sometimes can't
