You two have been grossly misinformed :lol:

1) The RIAA does not sue the company, unless the comapny is hosting the files. If the network is Peer-to-Peer (P2P) then the RIAA will sue major harbourers of files.

2) It doesn't matter how old something is to sue it, I mean, you could trip on a 50 year old staircase, break your legs, and still sue the contractor...

By the way, what are you talking about when you say 'The Media Player'? I certainly hope you don't mean the Windows Media Player, because that, for sure, does not allow the downloading of music...

The new Windows Media Player can record songs, I know my brother uses it. And of course you can sue it, even if it has been around for years. wmp records files to wma files and hence no one wants them since most people have the intelligence to use a good media player. that aside having songs on your computer is fine IF you possess the original song in some hard format (ie. MD,CD, vinyl etc) if you dont then you effectively breaking the copyright law. its the same with ROMS for emulators, if you dont own the real version you are only allowed them for 24 hours.

The problem comes when you are sharing them. you are less likely to be caught if all you are doing is downloading, so basically just download them and dont share them. if everyone did that i know you wouldnt get any songs, but i just cover my own back and let others worry about their own. i dont know about any of you guys but in our university we have a program called Direct Connect where trillions of bytes worth of info are shared. i know it goes on in most universities and there is nothig that can be done about it. its an unregulatable market. i wouldnt worry unduly, since you probabaly have more chance of catching typhiod.

yea kazaa doesnt work very well ne more but it wasnt in the news or ne thing i also heard that a riaa is putting out fake downloading things just to catch people downloading music and sue them so i stopped....

You can't quite get music from wmp, but you can get links to play music from other sites, that you can sometimes go to and download the song... it's quite convenient...

Kazaa is really bad now. I had iMesh a long time ago, had Morpheus (it was the best), had Kazaa (didn't care for it). Basically, I've been through every Fileshare program that has ever come out. Ones to avoid: WinMX, Bearshare, Limewire, and any new version of Kazaa.
