View Full Version : Word of Warning for Kazaa'ers.

Recently, RIAA has been randomly sueing people who are downloaded from Kazaa for 100+ per song.
They have ways of finding you, because they put out songs that somehow tell them where you are, who you are, but not your age, so they cannot feel pity.
So, I urge you to STOP using Kazaa. It IS illegal, just so you know.

I don't use it but my oldest brother does, and I'm kinda worried...
He's been a bit of a rebel lately, smuggling fireworks into city limits, downloading full movies before they come out, stealing road signs...
Worried.
And then, on top of that, the songs. A lot.
Very worried.
And he never listens to reasoning, saying that the laws are crappy and that the going after illegal downloaders is just a scare and it won't happen.
More than worried.

Stan: Theres a bunch of birds in the sky, And some deers just went running by, Ohhh, the snows pure and white on the earth rich and brown, Just another sunday morning in my quiet mountain town.
The sun is shining and the grass is green, Under the 3 feet of the snow I mean, This is a day when its hard to wear a frooowwwwn, All, the happy people stop to say hello!
Stranger: Get out of my way!,
Stan: Even though the temperature's low, Its a perfect Sunday morning in my quiet little mountain town,
Sharon: Well good morning Stan!
Stan: Mom, can I have eight dollars to see a movie?
Sharon: A movie? But I thought you were going ice skating...
Stan: But this is going to be the best movie ever! It's a foreign film from Canada
Sharon: All right, all right here you go, but be back for supper!
Stan: Thanks Mom!
Sharon: Oh what a picture perfect child, Just like Jesus, he's tender and mild, He'd a wear a smile while he wore a thorny croooooowwwn, What an angel with a heart so sweet and sure, And a mind so open and pure, Thank god we live in this quiet redneck mountain town!
Stan: Hi, is your son home?
Ms. McCormick: I think so... HEY!!! (Stan: ow) Kenny, wake up... Kenny
dammit come on Kenny: I'm coming!
Stan: Kenny the Terrance & Phillip movie is out, you wanna come?
Kenny: (something)
Ms. McCormick: Where the hell do you think you're going?
Kenny: I'm going to see Terrance & Phillip
Ms. McCormick: You can't, you have to go to church!
Kenny; But Mom, I wanna see this movie!
Ms. McCormick: Well fine go ahead and miss church; and then when you die and go to Hell you can answer to Satan!
Kenny: OK!
Stan: You can see your breath hanging in the air, You see homeless people, but you just don't care, It's a sea of smiles in which we'd be glad to drown, Kenny: (something), Stan: That's right, its sunday morning in our quiet little white-bred redneck mountain tooooowwwwwwn!
Kyle: OK, Ike lets try this one more time
Ike: (something)
Kyle: Kick the baby!
Ike: Don't kick the baby
Kyle: Kick the baby
Stan: Kyle, we're going to the Terrance & Phillip movie
Kyle: Oh my god dude!
Sheila: Kyle, what's going on?
Kyle: Nothing, we're going skating now
Sheila: Oh, well take your little brother out with you
Kyle: Aw ma, he's not even my real brother, he's adopted
Sheila: Do as I say Kyle!
Kyle: Ok, ok I'm sorry
Sheila: Look at those frail and fragile boys, It really gets me down, The world is such a rotten place, And city life's a complete disgrace, Thats why I moved to this redneck meshugannah quiet mountain town.
Cartman: Mom, somebody's at the dooooor: Mom, somebody's at the door, I said!
Liane: Coming hon...
Cartman: Ahh, I can't see the TV
Generic Reporter: It's been six weeks
since Saddam Hussiein was killed by a pack of wild boars and the world is still glad to be rid of him.
Liane: Oh Look Eric, it's your little friends
Ike: fireman!
Cartman: What are you guys doing here? OH SWEET DUDE, YES! YES!!!
Four boys: Off to the movies we shall go, Where we learn everything that we know, Because the movies teach us what our parents don't have time to say!!! And this movie's gonna make our lives complete Because Terrance & Phillip are sweeeeet (Cartman: Super sweet) Thank God we live in a quiet little red-neck po-dunk white-trash (Kenny says something) U.S.AAAAAAAAAA.
Stan: Can I have 5 tickets to Terrance & Phillip: Asses of Fire please? Clerk: NO!

I use kazaa everynow and then but it is only for songs that most people do not know of. Also I have a few things that can stop them.

11-01-2003, 07:32 PM
Actually, I do use Kazaa, but only for legal things like lists of several different lyrics in a txt or a java file im missing or something...
And huntershadow, it's not that we're sick of the song, it just does NOT belong in this thread since it contributes nothing whatsoever and is pointlessly lengthy...

Solean, I'm going to correct you. The RIAA is mainly going after people with a lot of files, and they're only going after those who are SHARING their files out. So, if you're an American (RIAA has no jurisdiction over other countries) and you're using KaZaA, please, protect yourself, Get KaZaA K++ (A third party program not made by KaZaA with 'Anti-RIAA' technology) And do not share your files. I've stopped sharing files ever since my dad got hit with a $30 extra charge on his Bill for Upload bandwidth overuse.

Other countries have laws against movie and music piracy as well. I don't know what the deal is in Canada, but German officials have gone wild hunting these people (I'm no longer among them, finally). We even have these funny warnings before movies (in the movie theaters) saying that filming the movies is illegal and the attempt to do so alone can be punished and blah blah blah.
But the warning has not been turned into some strange animation. The commercial telling people to be quiet and turn their cell phones off is animated with a whole lot of AIM stick figures running to go to the bathroom. It was funny the first time.

kazaa doesnt sue randomly, they target people who share and people who download alot of songs per day / week. Also they can trace IPs and crap. Kazaa and your internet company sell your info to the music industry and thats how you get screwed

As of now, I have no illegal software or music...well, I suppose it could also be considered piracy if you use the 'evaluation' version of WinZip with no intention of ever paying...
My brother on the other hand...he has about $150+ in illegal full movies alone...If a song were worth a dollar, he has about $2000 pirated there, all burned on CDs...I wish he wouldn't do such things. At least he doesn't upload...I think...
The First

And songs aren't worth a dollar... The oh so poor artists with their few (million *cough*)dollars sue for up to 50 dollars an album (educated guess). Now 2000+ songs would be a gold mine for them and the oh so poor and abused artists will sue for a lot. Damn them. But it's our fault as well. We're the ones that buy CD's instead of boycotting the RIDICULOUSLY high prices per CD.

Thats actually not that bad, I use windows ME and I have System Restore enabled, and when I ran McAfee's virus scanner I had 1,563 small viruses/spyware files hiding in the hidden System Restore archive file. I recommend checking that file specifically if you use win me and haven't disabled system restore, and clean it often or it'll become huge, mine was 6 gigs of junk since I had never before cleaned it out.

I just got a computer for my own and now i'm downloading a bunch of stuff. so, my question is if i should get the kazaa++ thing or not. i had kazaa for a short time but i didn't like it much. i'd just like to know what the advantages and disadvantages of that program are. i don't know much about how safe those things are. i'll probably use it to get a few songs and some movies. so, i'd like to know how safe it is and how to go about getting it. also, what are some other things that would be good to have
Celundyl
02-29-2004, 01:58 PM
Please do not bump up old topics, as it is frowned upon...
As for upgrading your Kazaa...I can't really suggest anything, as I see Kazaa and similar programs as tools for shoplifting and stealing under an electronic mask, and thus severely disagree with using the program at all...though I'm seriously beginning to think that nobody else sees it that way.
What I find as the funniest thing is religious people who go around shouting at people who are not the same religion, "You're gonna burn in Hell!" ...and then you hear them talking about this awesome song they got on Kazaa yesterday...
I. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
II. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.
III. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain.
IV. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
V. Honour thy father and thy mother.
VI. Thou shalt not kill.
VII. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
VIII. Thou shalt not steal.
IX. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
X. Thou shalt not covet any thing that is thy neighbour's.
You may not agree, but I don't see how...you are receiving products without paying for them and they were not meant to be freely distributed.
Wow. I really should shut up...and I didn't even answer your question.

sorry bout bumping this up, but it was only about halfway down so i didn't think it was that old and my topic was related anyway. and about the stealing, i don't really care. the entire world is corrupt, so you might as well just join 'em. i would support the industry if i actually had money though. still, if ne1 knows of the kazaa++ thing is worth it pleae tell me.

I'm downloading stuff with eMule 24 hours, 7 days a week(god bless flatrate...wait a minute... I don't believe in god). Actually I'm downloading a whole Anime series right now. I have about the first 30 episodes already. But they never dubbed or subbed it in German and there is no official sub in english so I think it's okay to download it. I already downloaded a whole series(BERSERK. GET IT NOW!) AND bought the DVDs afterwards.

I have about 70 songs from bands, but only the hard to get songs really, or when I want to preview a band, but if I like the band, I will buy their CD's. If you like a band enough, buy their CD, don't steal it from them. If you do, they will lose profit and might not have the funds to record any songs. But if somebody put their crap on iMesh or Kazaa, like a small band I know called Sideswipe, they put it on to get realized.

My other friend tryed to download AOL using kazaa (this kids a jock loser and i'm happy about what happened) and he got this virus that calls him an idiot, closes his windows, gives him pop-ups, deletes his documents, and the wierdest... turns the computor on and off.
