Ska or Punk?

I personally prefer ska a little bit, but not by much.

Ska is ok sometimes I like the more old school stuff like the specials. P.S. anyone who thinks Op Ivy is actual ska needs to be shot.

There is a difference... and neosquall... you bumped this topic so badly...
Ska is basically punk with horns in it... that's the only main difference.
I hate it when people dis ska when they love punk, and visa versa... but I don't mind it when people have a preference.
It's a 2 month old topic... this died a long time ago.

well theres kinda different levels of ska some like the older stuff wasnt really punk at all then punk bands started using brass and they were slapped into the ska genre too.

OK- ska is totally different from punk guys i mean come on. Punk, (if ur not thinking of emo s***) is like rock with the sling into political standpoints or like AFI kind of stuff. Ska, personally i like Voodoo Glow SKulls, that is ska. Horns here and there but the lyrics are usually about random crap. Im sure wen we here "SKA" or "PUNK" a different band or song comes to mind so we all have different veiws of this subject. Punk and ska should be categorized as totally different things, they arnt both punk... so ya.

i totally agree with the other kid, ska and punk arnt the same but personally i like punk over ska even tho ska has its own originallity to it.

Okay ska is f******************** awesome. Listen to LEFTOVER CRACK.. best F********************* ska/punk band ever. best punk band ever. best ska band ever. in my opinion. they had a band called choking victim but they broke up because the drummer left or quit or something like that.. not too sure.. anyways.. but yeah.. listen to choking victim /leftover crack. if you can't get any of their songs somehow.. PM me I'll send them to you somehow.

Who cares about "old school"? Ska has good bands, and punk has good bands. My favorite ska band is Catch 22 for sure. My favorite punk band is the Offspring. Don't argue with me about wether or not the Offspring are punk. In my eyes, they are. Opinions, people.
