All these bands suck.

Suck horribly.

HORRIBLY.

Blink 182 copied an SP riff and used it for almost ALL their horrible songs.

Rancid just sucks. SUCKS.

Lagwagon is a stupid name.

And simple plan is what my kid sister listens to. It creeps me out.

I voted for rancid (sort of the least of the evils), Have you ever heard of the Ramones, Stiff Little Fingers, Operation Ivy, Dead Kennedys any other punk that isn't crap (I could probably rant for a while here)...... Or maybe I'm just getting old.

Wow, why am I not surprised that all of the bands up there are either
A) Extremely Emo
or
B) Only popular because they're owned by a major label

Rancid was cool before they signed to warner, and you can tell because their old stuff rocks and their new stuff sucks teenie-bopper ass. Warner would probably slap the biggest-ass corrupting america's youth lawsuit on Rancid for writing a song called 'Dead Bodies Everywhere' and putting it on one of their new CDs. Any self-respecting punk wouldn't have excluded Nofx, probably the biggest REAL punk band in america from that list. But, my favorite punk band would have to be Refused, because you've just gotta listen to 'New Noise'.

And, Herman, I think Op Ivy is classified as Ska-Core, but I agree with you, they're great and should be up there.

I wouldn't consider any of those bands punk.. I consider ALL of them punk rock. But, being label'd as PUNK is just stupid in my eyes. I think it's more stupid when people strive to be what is currently known as "puNK" and put down other people that are not "punk" enough. Just shut the hell up and listen to punk rock. Is it really that hard? Also, there are a lot more 'better' punk bands than the ones you listed. Oh, and I don't really like the sex pistols. I like other bands back then, tough. Though, most of those bands are good that you listed, FreakofNature.

I consider them PUNK ROCK, yes. Just as punk-rock as crass, rancid, choking victim, or any of those bands.

heh, i love the casualties. die hards is a great album. lots of good songs.

i don't think punk should be underground. maybe some. but the punk bands with a message such as ANTI-FLAG, nofx, etc. they have a good message and the more listeners and people that agree with it the better, I think..

True Punk lies in the old school punk bands: The Misfits, The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, Anti-Nowhere League. Most of the punk out today is "softcore" punk, watered down to corporate standards and marketed to tools all over the world who think they're "rebelling against the mainstream" by listening to this soft punk crap.
