The first step to abandoning Web 1.0. Oh man, I cannot wait for over 9000 people rushing to answers.yahoo.com and asking "omg haow do i get me pikturs of websit?"

Oh, this is amazing.

That's funny, I always remembered the first time I ever saw a GeoCities website, that was when I played a game called "Arc" and was looking for some strategies.

Wouldn't Yahoo just revamp with something more point two-oh-ish? I can't imagine them just closing off something like this for no reason.

I wish I hadn't :P

the text on it looks like it's straight out of the Stick Arena forums, and I thought kids were better back then

Wait so there closing it off? Why would they do that?

Because of people with poor gramm- I mean it has cost- I mean wasted almost 4 million.

Ah, yes, an age gone. I found out by going to xkcd, and noticed it looked, well, like a site on Geocities. Farewell, project that helped shape the internet into what it is today.

Makes me a bit sad. They could at least hand over those files to the archivers, there's a lot of interesting stuff that will be lost.

I don't know what to think about this.

*tears*

I never had one but I remember it fondly. They should archive the sites instead of just deleting them. Oh well... its the end of an era, a better time.

So I'm the only one that hates Yahoo here? God, I wish they would just shut down completely. One step closer.
