Well, it's here!

Actually, it comes out tomorrow, the day after this thread was made. So what does everyone else think about the next Windows OS? I think it looks really promising, and it should be able to do the big thing that Vista was not able to do: beat Windows XP.

Discuss (I love these kinds of topics). :P

Also, here's Wikipedia's article on Windows 7. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7) This info in that article will be changing throughout these next several days...

I'm pretty sure this thread is already in Tech Help.

But I want the Nippon version.

I could care less, until Windows becomes unix-based, I will only use it if I have a need(and I mean need, not like "I want to run battlefield heroes") to use it. By need I mean college forces me to, or my workplace forces me to, or a mugger comes up to me and says if I don't have windows he will kill me and steal my laptop(but I don't have a laptop).

becoming unix based would be terrible for windows, the windows core has much better permission control, and it's nice to not have graphics implemented through a client/server mechanism.

I've been using the MSDN version of Windows 7 for a few weeks now, it's by far the best version of windows yet. The list of usability improvements is pretty long so it's well worth the upgrade assuming you have the hardware.

... of course. Do you stalk me and wait for me to make anything anti-windows so you can say something pro-windows?

The fact is that I like Unix. You like Windows, that's cool. I like Unix, and can't stand Windows. It's just how I am.

Darn it. I even looked around (although I only looked in Irrelevance, so this is totally my fault...) :(

I bought it at the super low Student price of 30 bucks. I needed to get Vista off my computer. Our hate/hate relationship just wasn't working out for either of us, so I decided to break up with Vista, the cold hearted Ice Queen that she is. I'm surprised she didn't wipe my hard drives to be more spiteful than she usually was. Good Riddance!

Becoming defensive isn't very becoming. You already stated your opinion. You don't have to act like you're being attacked and restate your opinion as if you're making some kind of bold declaration. You should learn how to have civilized debate.

Since I'm a student, I'm pretty sure I can get Windows 7 at a discount. I would if I had the time or the energy to, but at the moment it's just not worth it. It would be a cool thing to try over the summer, though.

That was my opinion, and nobody can understand it. I could care less what you use, sure I will jest and say you should get Linux(or whatever), but I don't really care either way. I'm not becoming defensive, I'm just trying people to get my opinion.

What do you want from me?

I'm waiting for my copy to arrive. Along with another TB harddrive so I can back up the one I have.

And eilios, you know what you should do? Help me learn to like Linux.

It's pretty good. I tried the beta. Liked what I saw.

This laptop is too old though. I went back to XP. I'll definitely be using Windows 7 in a future computer though.
