View Full Version : What. The. Hell

So, the last few nights I've been experiencing "hallucination" I guess you could say. It really happened last night, when I fell in to a very, very light sleep, I then was partially in a dream, where I heard one of the leaders in my school go on the intercom to announce like he does daily. I then begin to wake up, I look about my room, half asleep, when I suddenly started floating?? What? I got that sensation that I was floating above my covers, this, I note, was I was awake. I started hearing this intercom in my head, it was still going, and I was awake as ever, I began to see people around my room, I tried to shake it off, I swear I was awake, I could feel everything around me. But then I begin to hear more voices, that repeat "#### this", and on and on. I finally shake it off, there I lay in the middle of my bed, wandering what the hell just happened. I couldn't feel my hand for a time after that. Scared, I tried to fall asleep, only to be woken rudely later by something similar. By this time it's 2 AM or so. So in a daze again, I then see a man, walking about my room, I just try to close my eyes, but he suddenly dashes out of the room, jersey, yes, a football jersey and all out my room. It was as real as anything I'd seen. Another football player entered the room, #54 if I remember correct, and stays there, next thing I know I'm slipping off the bed for some reason. I then do something, whatever happened I ended up in the middle of my bed again. I didn't happen to smoke anything before this occurred, and it resulted in me only getting 2 hours or so of sleep that night. Logic would be appreciated, thanks...

It's a possible effect of sleep deprivation, but this is quite odd.

It's dreaming bro.
Don't say "Oh no it was too real for a dream".
I often have nights where I "wake up" 10 times only to finally wake up to an alarm.
The kind of situation you described happens to me usually when I only allow myself two hours of sleep. I'm too tired to sleep so I stay there awake but begin to dream and fall half asleep in a hallucinogenic stage. I start seeing things and realize they aren't real and try to wake myself up, then I think I'm awake until I realize my roommate walking into my room and talking about dogs at 4am is not plausible and I try to wake myself up again.
Yea i agree with Scornic when i was younger a had fairly bad fear of cows one night one of our cows escaped and we couldn't get it back in that same night i had the dream I woke went outside to try and get the cow back in but then (since the cow had horns) I saw that it charged and tragically i was speared but then i woke up in a cold sweat to find out it was a dream when it so real (and it was mostly plausible) so i say you just couldn't fall asleep for a while then fell asleep rather fitfully ending in a very weird perhaps series of dreams (but keep in mind that it is possible to have a dream inside a dream, or so it seams as it's happened to me)

Yes, I've experienced this before (my cat was talking to me...). It's happened to me, like Scornic said, when you won't allow yourself to fall asleep even though you really need it.
It's happened to me before becasue of dehydration, though, too.
It is all a dream, though; no need to worry. The best thing to do is to try to wake yourself back up.
Just a dream if you ask me. I had this once before. I woke up and this girl I like was kissing me. Seemed so real because it was at school and I had like all my periods like I would do without a dream. Then im walking in the hallway, she jumps on me and starts kissing me. Actually thought it was real. If you keep thinking about it your going to dream it. Get it off your head.

you i had the exact same thing happen to me And i thought i was going nuts. I almost fall asleep and i get a picture in my mind that i'm climbing stairs. All of a sudden i fall, then i have the feeling of the pain in two seconds, then its gone. I actually felt like i was falling. Then when i actually fell asleep, it looked very real. I could actually feel some of the pain and everyone was laughing at me and i think someone punched me as well. I felt everything and that's when i woke up. I WAS SCARED LIKE SHIT

It's just you dreaming. Dreams can seem to be the most real things, and it's scary in a way. I've had so many odd dreams.. The falling one has happened quite a few times. Try to think about a certain thing when you're laying down trying to fall asleep. Also, Crit said he's had those sort of things happen from dehydration.. So drinking water before you go to bed might help as well.

That's probably it, and that's the only decent post so far. NO #### it's dreaming, nah, I thought I had football players in my room and voices imn my head. My real question is, why the hell is this going on, this half hallucination poop when it really has never before. Looking back, maybe it is because I don't get enough sleep, but...

So, how much sleep have you had recently, not account the day that you only got 2 hours of sleep.

Maybe 6 hours a day...

Yeah, that's not nearly enough man. You should try to catch up on some sleep this weekend, aim for 8 hours.
Weed helps too, actually. It puts you into a pretty deep sleep.

Actually more like 5 on school nights, but I usually catch up during the weekends. I'm taking a lot of advanced stuff, which keeps me up late. But yeah, this topic might as well be closed soon..

I'm not sure if you care anymore, but, you can't actaully 'catch up on sleep'. You're body will soon adjust to 5 hours of sleep. And although that might solve the hallucinations... you'll become slow, and soon sick; your immune system will become weak.
Either way, good luck.

I agree with this, it's not like your sleep deprivation is cumulative, it'll just burn you out.
It's not healthy at all to only get five hours of sleep a night. In fact, I had a case of insomnia, and trust me, sleep is good.
EDIT: I take that back, you can catch up on sleep: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_debt

I average 5-6 hours per night, although in truth I get 4-5 most nights then the occasional 7-8 hour nights.
This only happens to me (having hallucinations in a half awake state as you described) when I am going to bed with the knowledge that I will have to wake up to an alarm only two hours later.
Last year I was getting 3-4 EVERY night. I broke my insomnia when I went to Italy and got 8+ hours of sleep every night during the summer/start of the semester, but I've slowly reverted back to an insomniac.
I 'woke up' in a dream and hit the snooze on my alarm to turn it off. It didn't stop going off, obviously, since I was just dreaming this. So it keeps going off, and I'm freaking out, and I can hear my roommate getting pissed, and I'm like, "Why the hell won't this turn off!"
Then I actually woke up. Roommate was pissed because I left my alarm going for like 2 minutes.

Waking up in the middle of a deep sleep can cause strange effects like hallucinations, temporary paralyzations and feelings of leaving one's body. It is the most common cause of so called alien abductions, and likely the culprit behind your hallucinations.

Yeah, that floating sensation was damn scary.

When I was younger I slept with my mom in the same bed. One time, I "woke up" to see my mom wake up as well but when opened her eyes her pupils were red. And her teeth bared. And she wanted blood.

I've had dreams like this many times, especially at weekends, I allow myself plenty of time to sleep; however, there are some instances where I can't sleep for some odd reason.
One time, I fall half asleep only to "wake up" in place that looks like my room, but then my brother comes in and throws a fireball at me (I knew I was dreaming at this point), then I try to wake myself up only to "wake up" again to the same thing twice, then when I finally woke up for real, it was 9:00 AM, and I was trying to remember the rest of the dream, but failed to do so.

Salsport, I think it's time to tell you that... You're still dreaming. Wake up, you're late for school.

It's just your dreams, they can be very real. I used to have dreams of the toilet sucking me up. Then I has to pee in the toilet to get out. :|

Well if you really were awake and it's not sleep deprivation, don't see a psychiatrist unless it occurs again. Nobody likes a misdiagnosis of schizophrenia ^_^.
