well the government is putting out songs that get dowloded thousands of times a day that is all the record companies care about ive downloaded hundreds of songs from the 80's i never got caght i did downlaod a recent music file but thank god my virus scanner (that i just downloaded from kazza) spotted it in time

I trust my K++, It's far, FAR better than any version of KaZaA. If you don't know what K++ is, It's on the KaZaA network, but it's made by other people. There's no popup ads, and it has an Auto Search More function, which lets you search unlimitedly and automatically. It's great.... Go get it now, but I believe the link was taken off of Google... try Altavista?

And it is possible to track downloads, yes. And certain music files do contain tracking information, yes. But do you see how many people are on Kazaa at any given time, day or night? There aren't enough courts and not enough prisons to prosecute and/or imprision everyone at once.

While far more than 50 percent of the world population live in poverty and nearly die of starvation, people like 50 Cent, Eminem, Puffy/Diddy/Piddy/Puffdidum, Aerosmith, Robbie Williams, and god knows who else live in mansions that could house dozens of families, consume more than 50 or so Indian families do every day, and watch as the world economy goes so far down the drain that an american president declares war on a country and "happens" to find some oil. And these "artists" have a problem with losing money? And it doesn't end with the artists, big corporate CEOs, even RIAA's own board is just as filthy rich. The bastards.
