My family already got two warnings sent to us from our ISP, is there anyway to download torrents without the threat of the ISP shutting us off or worse?

This client http://deluge-torrent.org/
Says it has full encrytion. Is that what I need?

Probs not. Most clients support full encryption, you just have to force or enable it.

Consider ignoring the threats if they're unfounded (an IP address is not enough information to procsecute).

If you want to hide your activities from snoopers, software such as PeerGuardian or Protowall, with decent blocklists. See http://www.bluetack.co.uk/forums/index.php for more information.

Beyond that, you could subscribe to a VPN service - this basically connects a very very strongly encrypted connection with a network outside of your ISP's effectively making whatever you do untraceable.

Other than that, use private trackers or forego bittorrent altogether and use direct downloads (rapidshare, megaupload, etc). A few people here have invites to private trackers and DDL sites.

Why don't you get McAfee? It protects your computer from doing stupid crap like explained in your thread. That is what I like about it.

He's talking about encrypting torrents so his ISP doesn't cap it, not a virus problem.

Besides, McAfee sucks.

Switch ISP's maybe? If that's an option.
